    was it just me or did any one else see the gear clip the guys top...
    Could the flyer have aborted the take off safely??

    What do you honestly think? The pilot has bum all skill by the looks of it.

    Ability to move ones fingers? :D
    Could of been a radio glitch or when it went off course - a panic attack.

    With a conventional propeller plane, there is propeller-driven air-wash over the ailerons, elevator, and rudder while on the ground.
    This gives a mushy sort of semi control, difficult to use but it is what we use, along with steering controls on the wheels.

    With a jet (central airflow behind model only) the moving control surfaces have little or no airflow over them until flying at some speed. (imagine greasing the wheels of a car friction free before trying to corner). It reacts very late, or hardly at all, to instructions from the pilot and depends on being really well aimed and balanced before accellerating into that "smushy zone" of speed.

    The jet is an uncontrollable monster when slow, but a wonderful rock steady on rails beauty when at full speed.

    So a lot of jets get buried at takeoff or landing. especially by experienced prop pilots who are unfamiliar with this essential difference.

    Now that leaves the wheel steering. Take a look at the size of the wheels, the steering wheel is in front (like a car reversing it is extremely sensitive), and the wild bounce from the rough surface. Not easy.

    So that is the problem. ......

    But why didn't he throttle down, walk over and straighten it up again, and just do it right the second time?
    Unclear.
    He REALLY lost a lot more "face" (all over the internet!) by giving it a go. :D
