Why is it that when I came to Finland, I was introduced to 9-ball Pool? This is a very under-rated game in Ireland as I'd never played it before I left Ireland. It's definitely the best form of Pool when playing with a large group of lads as the games are usually quite short and you can play "best of 3" without others waiting too long. But every time I return to Ireland, I can't play it as all the pubs have red/yellow coloured balls and in 9-ball you need the numbered balls.

9-ball is good fun - the snooker hall in the Bray Bowl used to have a couple of 9-ball tables where you could play by the hour. Not sure if they still do though.

I like 9 ball pool too, but there are not many places available to play it in.
Some places that I sometimes play in and am aware have that American style pool tables (8ft or 9ft) in Dublin are:

Leisureplex, Coolock: plenty of pretty good tables, get new covers frequently.

M.R. Taylors Star Bar, Main St, Swords: 4 good tables, new covers on them last week.

Breaks snooker club, Drumcondra: not very nice tables, place is a not good either. Have not been in about a year. Last times I was there, it was turning into a poker casine style place.

Can anyone else add to this list of American pool table locations please? I'm on the look out for good locations, especially in south Dublin city...
