Organised by SEI, this business to business event is a must for anyone with a professional interest in or responsibility for energy use.

Following the success of the Energy Show 2007, the 2008 Show will move to the bigger venue of the Main Hall in the RDS. This will accommodate even more exhibitors and visitors alike.

The format will consist of a two-day trade exhibition coupled with a seminar programme covering the topical aspects of energy efficiency and renewable energy.

Online Registration is now available for the exhibition and seminar programme. Seminar places are limited so book early to avoid disappointment.

What you can expect to see at the exhibition
    • Energy audits
    • Energy Management Systems
    • Monitoring and Targeting

was there today, very much an expansion of the renewable energy section of the PLAN Expo.
I was dissappointed at the number of 'sales' persons on the stands and lack of 'technicial' people, but i suppose it was designed as a 'business to business' gathering.

plenty of solar collectors, PV collectors, biomass boilers etc.

I was disappointed by the SIGA stand, small and not very informative... their 'comic' booklet was a bit condesending....... but they were the only air tightness membrane stand so fair dues....

one thing i did notice was the lack of 'in your face' marketing from the multifoil crowd compared to PLAN. Their shortcomings seem to be hitting home.

Had an indepth discussion with a number of SEI/BER adjudication people - ANY product that can not verify performance with agrement certification WILL NOT be accepted as part of a BER assessment - and you know - I believe them - they want evidence, boiler systems/renewables/insulations values/accredited details.= AND MULTIFOILS specifically

Syd , A1 - any update today on WHEN we get from SEI

DEAP software revised for Part L 2007
Agreed methodology for BER assesment of existing houses

OOPS - sorry syd - i see you adressed this in the DEAP / BER thread

Yep, be carefull with some of the products you specify for a build, they will need to be independently tested.

I went yesterday and attended the SEI seminars. One comment I would make and was made to me by several people was the amount of solar products.... maybe that's because they are so visible. As someone said it was very much an extension of Plan Expo. As a day out, Plan Expo would be a better event for the average architectural technologist.

Have to say I was a little disappointed with SEI and their afternoon session, and the rushed ending so they get get to listen to the Minister, rather than encourage and engage in debate and discussion with the attendance.

The one conclusion I did draw for the seminars is, not every solution, is suitable for every situation and that we may be soon at the situation where we will be cooling our buildings, rather than heating them.

I think that they should have had some free seminars explaining say how to best use a heat pump with solar heating for example. At the Civilex seminar they had several of these (free) talks throughout the day. CIRIA conducted one on attenuation and had a book with all the design features, which was followed by questions and answers from anyone on the floor....not just the lucky people who paid for the seminar.;)
