just to let people know the seminar with jason is costing €60 and we'll start at 2pm on Sunday!
for those of you who dont have any bells there will be some provided but id advise those interested to book early as places are limited.
This will also be a great oppertunity for anyone interested in kettlebell lifting or just simply wishing to improve their strength training to see 1st hand whats involved, not to mention train with the only certified and IUKL recognised Kettlebell Coach in Ireland.
anyone who made it to the 1st session in John Kavanagh's gym im sure will agree its a session not to be forgotten...and as the logo says...

    The Metal Never Lies :D

is this something you cant simply learn online?

how could a coach correct your posture etc learning it online?

jason is an excellent, patient coach that gets across all the exercises very well.

Thanks John..........you cant really learn any thing,in depth on line.Be it Muay Thai,BJJ or kettlebell lifting but I can only speak from about 20 +yrs of training in sports .So I guess I'm ole fashioned as I like the hands on approach,as I think its safest.

Any thing that works on loading the spine, needs direct hands on coaching but each to there own.

    Thanks

im lifting weights several years and picked it up from practice/books and the interweb:)...
i would however seek coaching in the more olimpic style lifting.
im guessing it would be preferable to get coaching in kettlebells?

Out of curiosity, SorGan, if you've never had a coach then how do you know your form is up to scratch?

well because i look in the mirrors:D
seriously though its not rocket science to get the basic lifts right, coaching def. has its place but not in my training.:)

O.K it aint rocket science but there is science envolved in this sport. There are three hour lectures each day ,over a five day period on this sport when your with a coach. Also just out of curiosity what weight you lifting, how long and how many reps you do'en ???

Have a look at Eduardo Trustvich on youtube,to see what coaching can do long term.

    All the best

jus to be clear my comment (rocket science) was aimed at what i do not kettlebells,:)
i train the basics nothing flash..deadlift/squat/presses etc.
i tend these days to train to fail at about 8reps, then get to 25 using 1minute rests.(but not dropping weight)
keeps the beer weight off ya know.:)

There are still some place left for the A.I.K.L.F foundation workshop this 9th of March. Also the A.I.K.L.F has just been 100% brought fully into the International Union of Kettlebell lifting due to my last test in Latvia at the World Champs camp.So I've now been invited to Gatchina in Russia to take the sport further, along with a further 4 week training course in Latvia being coached in kettlebells and Olympic lifts by an other Champion lifter.

So I'll go into more info on the 9th's workshop.

    All the best

    From Mark Rippetoe
My personal squat form is not perfect, and neither is anybody else's who is not constantly coached. I know what is supposed to look like, but because I can't see it while I'm doing it, my form will drift over several workouts from good to bad. It will settle into a stable, bad technique and will remain there until I get it corrected again. This is called "form creep", and affects all uncoached athletes to varying degrees.

Everybody needs a coach, no matter how accomplished they are. A coach provides a good set of eyes and the experience to know what to say to get you to do a movement correctly. This is the primary problem with training alone at home, not the lack of some asshole yelling that it's "All you, man!" You can't see it as it's being done, and you can't correct it as it happens if you can't tell what's wrong. Video is useful, but it's no substitute for a coach's correction in real time, your feeling the correction and incorporating it into the movement pattern, and then your feeling the difference the correction made from wrong to right during the set.
