Can anyone advise me how to connect up my DVD Recorder please. At the moment I've got a free-to-view satellite dish that connects to the set-top box and then by scart to the tv. The normal aerial for RTE1/2/TV3 etc then connects to the tv. I had it connected ok before I got the sat dish but having in effect 2 aerial leads is confusing me (not difficult)
TV is a Sony KDL32D3000 and DVD is a Sony RDRHXD870

Satellite cable from satellite dish to satellite reciever.
2 scarts from satellite reciever, 1 to TV 1 to DVD recorder.
    Scart from DVDR to TV
TV aerial lead to DVD recorder, patch lead (supplied with DVDR) from DVDR to TV.

Thanks for that John. Satellite box only has one scart though. Do I use a double scart box plugged into it?

I thought the sony 870 is the uk version(Uk tuner) so I dont know if you can tune in RTE 1,2, TV3,TG4. I think you would need the Irish version RDR HXD750 for that but SKY should be ok. Here is how my RDR HXD750 is set up with sky. (Sky box scart to tv) (Sony 750 Scart to TV) and 1 scart between sky box and sony. Hope this helps.

connect the recorder to the tv with HDMI for the best picture.

you can get double headed scart cables alright, this would be one of your options. or you can connect scart from satellite to dvd, the the hdmi from the dvd to tv. that will send the satellite to the tv as well.

Moe Am i Right in saying that the 870 won't tune into the Irish Analogue channels?

With one of those double headed scarts would it be possible say to have 1 sky box connected to 2 seperate TV's?

Thanks Moe. 1 final Q. Is it possible with this Scart lead to have one Scart connected to 1 tv while the other scart connected to a component lead. this is my only othe alternative connection for SKY+ to an up stairs tv. I have component built unto wall as had planned on getting in SKY HD. The SKY HD box has component and HDMI.

So what I am relly trying to say is it possible to get a Scart to componet converter?

    Thanks

That is not correct. The 870 has both a digital UHF and analogue UHF, VHF I/III tuner. It will pick-up all IRL analogue terestrial and cable TV.
