    Hey

I am working on a church and have to remove leaded glass which is positioned 15m high inside the church. The church is still in use so i cant scaffold it out and it is not cost effective and also the door opening is 2.1m high by 1.7 wide. I was loking at a siccours lift but they dont go up high enough.
if any one has come accross this problem or has any ideas on a solution, it would be a great help.

    A cherry picker.

Also, just because the curch is in use does not mean you can't install scaffolding. A number of churches around the country have needed repairs and the work was carried out while the church was in use

edit: seams it took me an hour to reply and SB got in there. shouldn't try and watch tv while I am on the net

Quick erect scaffold towers would be a solution. They have castors and outriggers for stability. You should be able to hire them.I am getting one ,but from the uk ,too expensive to buy here.

I for one wouldn't feel comfortable 15 metres up on an alumium scaffold. I've seen them refused on site for safety reasons at below 10 metre heights.

Cherry pickers that reach 15 meters are generally too wide to get in the 1.7 metre door. Plus they would be too heavy for the floor - a 14 metre genie boom weighs over 6 ton

I'd recomend an spider type cherry picker with extendable outriggers.

I've seen this one working on a 15 metre high building in Drogheda

a couple of things come to mind: how big is the glass? How heavy ? And how do you intend to handle it 15m up, especially bearing in mind you don't want to drop it on anybody below, either........

Remember - cherry pickers et al are NOT cranes, and are not designed for, lifting items. They are in the family of MEWP's - Mobile Elevated Work Platform's, i.e. for working from - they aren't access lifts.

Say you take the glass out - what's left in the ope then? Surely not open to the elements ?

At the end of the day, how can a person evaluate a risk like this on one hand, and on the other say it's not affordable? You can me killed at 2m.........

I would rather you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise I suggest you pick up a bus pass and get the ********* ********* off the road”
