Snooker Coaching for the recreational player

I was wondering how i'd go about getting coaching from a decent or half decent club player on the northside of Dublin. I would be looking at about 1 lesson of 90-120 minutes once a week for 4 weeks and then perhaps a tune up once a month for a couple more months. I would take the schedule above under advisement of the coach if he suggested otherwise but thats they way i would like it and perhaps one frame against eachother to start with.

My level is lowly. I play once a week in a quiet local snooker room(4 tables), i can pot balls but not consistantly and i cant really get position to put together any sort of break. I can play 4 frames and not get a break over 19. I feel my main fault is that im not cueing properly but theres probably at least a dozen other basic things im not doing properly that im unaware of(similar to the learner driver that keeps failing his driving test and cant see why because he thought he drove ok!.)

By getting coaching from someone who knows what theyre about the hope is that they could put me right on a few things.

Im not aiming to improve to be a serious player but for now i just want to improve enough so as i dont miss tiddlers, improve on position and most importantly feel im cueing well. Oh and so for once i can trump my brother next time we play and a friend who i play more regularly than the brother!.

Is snooker coaching for the recreational player unheard of or is there a standard going rate for lessons?. Did anyone here ever get coaching or better still offer coaching?.

    Please pm or post here

    Thanks
    Aidan

Thanks arrymark, i play in the club but im not affiliated to the club or with its members, im only an associate member. I may mention it to the club leader if the oppertunity arises(i usually avoid club nites as not to get in their way and they need the 4 tables so i rarely see him) if he'd like to follow up on the generous offer. As for one on one tuition with him i wouldnt be prepared to travel to Carlow so i would have to decline this but appreciate the offer.

Thanks for this and i may pm you in the future if i get to talking with the club head man and get a good reaction.

    Hey There

I think the best way is to keep practicing and put in the hours. I used to play years ago and was runner up in the dublin jnr championship in the early 90's.

But you might want to try somthing like this

    http://www.playbettersport.com/snooker_eu.htm

It will give you a better idea on how your stance should be , how to play side and when , and how to improve your tracking etc.

Its not what you are looking for but it may help you a alot;)
