you'd be restrictetd to automatic bikes on the full license, teh same way you would be if you took your car test in an automatic.

some instructors rent out bikes for tests, get on to whoever your local crowd are

'range like on automatics'? I dont see how passing your test would have an impact on your fuel consumption... :o

you askin what the choice is of automatic bikes? not entirely sure, but they'll all be the 'scooter' type. Dont think there are any proper motorbike looking bikes that are automatic. Theres a 400cc Yamaha Majesty, and a 600cc Honda silverwing if you looking for increasing your cc for example.

Not forgetting the new Yamaha FJR1300AS is a automatic :D

A little expensive though, but an auto all the same.

I'd advise hiring a bike for the test - If you're getting a pre-test with an instructor, they should be able to help you out.
Although if you like gambling, I have heard of more than one person doing their test on an automatic and being issued an unrestricted licence.

The choice for bigger 'scooters' is getting slowly better (though I don't the FJR really qualifies as it's more clutchless than fully auto - but I don't think KTRIC was being too serious either). I've got a Yamaha Tmax (500cc), Suzuki do a 650cc Burgman and Aprilla are launching an 850cc this year.

I'm probably getting one of these later in the year - 700cc Deauville engine, cruiser design, twist'n'go. Guaranteed to annoy many a biker!

Any idea if I can still get an A1 license if I did the test on a 49cc scooter? It's capable of more than 45km/hr so technically you should be allowed drive it on a M license.

A category M licence only allows speeds of up to 45kph.

theres no minimum requirement for the A1 license afaik...

though theres no point (imo) in taking the A1 over the M, not worth the waiting time, for so little extra...
By the sounds of it, you want the A1 for possible future-proofing yourself..? I'd take the full A in thats the case..

    (edit)
wrong about that... link, seems theres a minimum restriction too... 51-125cc
teaches me to write before research...

I'd only be doing it so I don't have to wear a tabard until I get an A license. I don't even have a learner permit for class A yet so I won't have a full one for at least 8months. Stupid rule:mad:.
I've had a provisional A1 license from when I was learning to drive a car so can do my full A1 test immediately.
    Get me?
