Pity its variable with 'stories' of ECB cuts later this year. You'll be guaranteed banks would pass them on to get full profit of a saver :(

Quick question about the Halifax 10% current account since we're on the topic. It only applies for balances up to 2,000 but you have to deposit 1,500 per month minium to qualify. Does that mean if you've a balance of 4k, 2k earns 10% and 2k earns something else? Or does going over the max limit disqualify you from earning the higher rate on any of your funds.

If so, my question is, what's the point???? At best it would seem like a holding a/c before your funds are sent off to other various places like loans, SO's and DD's.

Are they just throwing out this ridiculously high rate in the hopes of attracting customers who might not bother reading the small print?? And how much does the rate revert to if you don't meet the fairly strict conditions that they set out?

Halifax seem to be the best with 5.15% intertest on their flexi saver a/c and theres a store near me.

5.15% applies to first 10k. First active paying 5.22% on balances up to 15k (however if the balance goes above 15k the rate drops to 4.33%)
