    hey guys
a bought a new pc a few months ago, its very well speced, quad coare, 4 gigs of ram, vista64, geforce 8800gtx etc and its running very smoothly except when I play World of Warcraft. Every now and again the game pauses, the sound loops in the background and then a blue screen appears for about 6 seconds then the computer reboots itself. Other times I get weird polygon glitches flickering and jumping all over the place in World Of Warcraft.

This does not happen in any other game and computer acts normal at all other times. I have the latest nvidia graphics drivers installed and Warcraft is fully uptodate.

This is the error I get:

    Problem signature
    Problem Event Name: BlueScreen
    OS Version: 6.0.6000.2.0.0.768.3
    Locale ID: 6153

Files that help describe the problem
    Mini013008-01.dmp
    sysdata.xml
    Version.txt

View a temporary copy of these files
Warning: If a virus or other security threat caused the problem, opening a copy of the files could harm your computer.

    Extra information about the problem
    BCCode: 116
    BCP1: FFFFFA800521A010
    BCP2: FFFFF980044525F0
    BCP3: 0000000000000000
    BCP4: 000000000000000D
    OS Version: 6_0_6000
    Service Pack: 0_0
    Product: 768_1

Anyone know what this means or how I can fix this problem.

    Cheers

If its only happenin with 1 game i'd suspect a driver problem, update to the latest on the nvidia website. Try to follow the following procedure each time you upgrade graphics drivers:

download latest driver to your desktop
    uninstall old driver in add/remove
reboot to safe mode by pressing f8 on boot up
run driver cleaner, here, some recommend emptying the recycle bin
    reboot to normal mode
install new driver by showing the driver pop-up the file on your desktop

"Other times I get weird polygon glitches flickering and jumping all over the place in World Of Warcraft."

BOOM! thats your problem in order of most likely to least............

    1) Either the GPU, RAM or both on the Graphics card is overheating/damaged.
    2) The Graphics card isnt getting enough juice
    3) The bus that your graphics card is on is borked. (PCIE)
    4) Your drivers caused a problem.

Download Ntune, monitor the GPU temps, ensure good airflow across the card and take it from there. Artifacts/tearing/glitches and lightning-like effects are rarely a software issue. Even though its only happening with one game, it could just be that it pushes the hardware hard enough to show the issue.

This is definitely the most likely. Overheating has been linked to that error code before. For some it has gone away when they used some monitoring tools as suggested.

Have you checked the minidump file?
If you check it and look for the MODULE_NAME and IMAGE_NAME headings you will see what is causing the error

gonzo download a program to check the temps of the graphics card.
    good few of them around.

if its anywhere over 90 degree's when playing world of warcraft then thats definatly causing the problem.
