Flights with stops

A bit of an odd question, but i'll ask anyway; has anyone ever joined a flight after purposely missing the first leg of the journey? Is this possible? Or would security have an issue with it?

    Thanks in advance.

Well you would need to check in for it surely so getting passed security with no boarding pass might be an issue..........

expand on what exactly you mean

I purposely missed the first leg of a Edinburgh -> Dublin -> London trip.

I phoned Aer Lingus ahead of time, and they marked me down as a 'noshow' beforehand.

Well i was meant to be spending some time working in Germany later this year before going to Mauritius with a friend of mine who is originally from there. Thinking i'd be in Germany on the planned day of departure, we booked my flight, on opodo, departing from Frankfurt and arriving at Port Louis, Mauritius with a stop in Paris where i would meet my friend before boarding the second leg of the journey together.
I've more than less just been informed that i will no longer be in Germany on the planned date of departure so i will now be home in London on that day. Rather than fly to Frankfurt just so i can make the first flight, it would be much easier to just get the eurostar to Paris and board the second leg of the journey.
I'll get onto opodo and Air France in the morning and see what they say. I've never actuctally been on a flight with a stop before so i had no idea what the procedures are with boarding cards, i.e whether you would have a seperate one for each part of the journey.

If you don't show up for the first leg, there is a very good chance they will cancel your whole flight. This happened to a friend of mine who had a dublin to boston flight booked with a stop in shannon, they decided to go from shannon instead and were refused entry and had to buy a new ticket. Ring the airline and cancel the first leg and tell them you'll be in Paris instead. Show up early to check in in case there are any problems.
