Where does windows save its passwords to?

    Hi, im just wondering where does windows save its user login passwords etc to? Is their a like a pass.ini file somewhere? I know it will prob be encrypted but was just wondering where it is?

    95,98 save to username.pwl - deleting the file clears the users passwords - zero local security

    NT/2000/XP/2003 save to registry in the SAM file

    passwords aren't stored just a hash of the password
