DVD burner thinks it is a CD burner

I have a Dell D630 with a PBDS DVD Burner. When I look in My Computer and in Device Mansger it is marked as a DVD drive. However, when I insert a blank DVD it changes to a CD drive in My Computer (it is still a DVD drive in Device Manager).
I uninstalled the driver through Device Manager and rebooted but that did not work. I also checked for updates but was told I had the latest.
    Any ideas?

Are you sure it's not just a dvd reader and cd burner?

It says DVD R/RW on the side and it says DVD-RW Drive in My Computer until I insert the blank DVD.

Nero InfoTool will tell you what your drive can and can't do.

When you download the tool, simply run it and it will display what the drive can burn cds/dvds +/- etc. The bit about sending them the txt file is just for debugging problems.

edit: Paste the txt file here actually and we'll tell you.
