DIT 1-12 vs DCU 0-12 in Grangegorman

Brilliant game. DIT started the better with 2 Vaughan free's but let DCU back to level it at 0-2 0-2 witha a free from Mortimer and a huge point from Shane O'Rourke. DIT then lost Paul Brogan and John Donegan through injury after ten and 17 minutes respectively. DCU went on to claim the lead but DIT kept battling and another Vaughan free put them back level. Both sides kicked another point each before DCU's fitness showed and they kicked 3 points in a row to lead 0-7 to 0-4 at the break.
Whatever was said in the dressing-room had a huge effect on DIT and they Blitzed DCU with some very impressive football. They clawed back DCU's three point advantage and kicked 5 points in a row to go 0-9 to 0-7 up with 15 minutes remaining. But DCU's class shone through and they leveled the game twice - O'Rourke again with a monster kick - at 0-10 0-10. Then came the turning point. A Vaughan free from 45m out on the right, curled over beautifully and a Liam Flemming point from wing back put DIT two points to the good with 5 minutes remaining. Then the Decider - great movement from Cian Ward down the wing, then finding Shane Ryan (not the Dublin senior) who unselfishly set Aiden Kilcoyne up for an easy finish. DCU fought back and had time with 6 minutes of injury time added on to snatch an unlikely and undeserved win. But DIT held on to the delight of the home supporters.
My Man of the Match - Any of the DIT backs could have won it or even Mark Vaughan who kicked vital frees but it has to go to:
DIT Full-Back Eoin Naughton -didn't give Conor Mortimer a sniff for the whole game and set up a great Micheal Burke score.

Queens V. UUJ has to be tie of the round. Finalists from last year.

Queens appear to have nearly been caught hanging on against NUIG. Lead by 5 pts into injury time but NUIG got 1-1. The manager is saying NUIG where strong this year and they had some injuries, so happy enough to get through. Charlie Vernon, Niall Bogue and Paul Treanor seem to have been the stars from Gaelic Life.

UUJ, I'd say, will be surprised at how easy it was. They where seeing this as a big match. Andy Moran of Mayo got 2 goals and Paddy Cunningham of Antrim got another. Karl Lacey, Raymond Mulgrew and a few other Tyrone and Down underage stars from the last few years makes them look a good bet. A few of the old Sligo boys getting their own back!

I'd say Tralee IT and DIT should be a cracker. Don't know enough about the rest.

By the sounds of it UUJ and Queens was a classic. Karl Lacey, Donal Morgan, Mark Lynch and Paddy Cunningham where the stars for UUJ.
