Basic Projectors for home - Any Good ?

    Hi all,
I'm looking at buying an entry levelprojector on eBay (For example "New Digital Home Cinema LCD Projector + TV built in, UK" on eBay). I'd love to hear from somebody that has bought one.

Are they any good before I take the plunge? or should I say, are they adequate given that I don't intend spending 3 times the price on a branded one?

    Any help/info' is appreciated!

They can be passable , but only just , most will have the famous chicken wire effect , basically all the pixel outlines will be visible on the screen making it look like your watching a movie through a fence , cheaper ones have serious colour issues especially towards the edge of the screen which may look washed out.

DLP types also have the rainbow issue ,streaks of colour appearing across the screen.

Any half decent one should be OK , just dont expect miracles is all , most of these things were not designed with home theater in mind , they were designed for presentations in a meeting room and work and for that no-one cares about the above issues.

the ebay ones are meant to be absolutely terrible from what I have read and dont do HD. There was a thread on avforums.co.uk recently about them.
