    Hey Guys,

I have recently had trouble with the sound on my pc. Basically, Its unbalanced , Where voices and conversations are always low volume and then gun shots or loud noises are always really loud, So I would have to turn up my volume for the convo bits of episodes for example, and down for any action scenes. And I have tested other movies etc, Same thing. I tested my ER-4P's with the pc and the same thing happend.

I have built in Realtek HD Audio , ALC888 according to the Realtek software info.

my mobo is an ASRock 4Core1333-Viiv.

Is there any way to reset the overall sound settings in Xp ? Maybe that would fix it.

As always, all feedback is great.

Is there a realtek settings manager in the control panel or just default windows volume controls?

That doesn't really sound like a technical problem tbh. I assume this is just happening with movies? Most music/TV shows are "compressed" meaning that everything is roughly equally loud. The audio mix on movies typically has a wide dynamic range, this means that there are quiet bits and loud bits. This is for better dramatic effect, etc. There's not much you can do about it without splashing out for a good audio system with a compressor, or using a software compressor to adjust the mixes on your movies/DVDs

Yeah there is a realtek manager, and all sound settings are at default.

No, I have only noticed these sound problems in the last week or so, and I have been watching my downloaded xvid series for 2 weeks now , all encoded by the same group, same type, audio, res etc.

Are there any sound profiles defined in the realtek manager that might cause this? I'm assuming your pc has 2 speakers; check all the sound settings are for stereo/2 speakers and not something like 5.1 surround.

What gamer says "pop/rock" is what I meant by sound profiles. I was guessing there might be something like that in the options cause that's what the description of your problem sounded like to me.
Let us know if you've any luck OP.

    Hey GUys,

The ''Environment'' is already set to None. And the souund profiles are set to the default, Which by the looks of it is POP, And all the EQ bars are level and in the middle.

I had the same problem before with my realtek software. The best, and probably only, solution for this kind of problem is to just reinstall your Realtek driver again and badda bing, badda boom!

The sound driver can go wonky the odd time causing voices to sound low and background music to sound really loud or normal.
