Training Partner wanted Pad Work

I'm in the Dublin 24 area. I have a black belt in Kenpo. I am looking for someone to work on one-to-one basis. I really just want someone to train with on pads. Whether it be in a club or out of my residence, I don't mind. I really am just looking for a place to train that will improve my speed, kicking technique and target practice. I'm a little bit unfit at the moment and I want to improve.

I really don't want to be associated with any club(s) any more. I would love to go into competitions as an individual competitor. I don't know why I feel this way. I have links and contacts that will keep me updated on competitions in both Kickboxing/Kenpo/TaeKwonDo competitions.

I guess I'm looking to try something new.

I'm sick of forms and prancing up and down the floor throwing kicks and punches at mid-air.

I'm not looking to do any grappling or MMA. I know all about grappling and the MMA and BJJ and all that, I know it's fantastic. But it's not what I'm looking for.

For several reasons, none of them bad, I can't go to my old club because of time restraints with work and etc.

If anyone out there is looking for a training partner or can spare a bit of space in their dojo, with no strings attached, for a martial artist then let me know.

    Thanks,
    Hank

    Hi Hank,
Have you thought about giving Muay Thai a go, you will get endless rounds of pads and sparring work, no forms or katas or prancing around, might be worth a go and if it aint for you then so be it at least you gave it a go.

Hope you find what you are looking for.:)

Ideally I am looking for someone else who hasn't got anywhere to train. To meet up and do some pad work, without the cost of a club. Even 2 or 3 or 4 people would be good.

I would consider Muay Thai, but the last time I tried kicks on a punch bag or sparred my ankle went, as it's a bit testy these days. So more along the lines of pad work.

if you kick with your shin as they do in muay thai there will be no problem on your ankle! its kicking with the foot that puts pressure on your ankle, muay thai would suit you great.

I get the pain in the ankle from a side kick or front kick where the heel hits the bag/body, it seems to instantly sprain, leaving me out of action for about a week.

I don't quite know exactly how Muay Thai kicks, but can anyone give me a club or person to contact about Muay Thai in the Dublin area.

    Thanks

heavyweight here fight fan, you sound like a ******, seems to me you don't want to do anything hard, so when it gets a little heavy in training you can can say"oh, can we watch tv now" or you probobly want to train in front of the tv then you can say "stop, watch this bit, i love it when randy passes guard, speaking of randy and passing, i'm randy right now, pass the vasaline" to which your unaware "partner" asks "why are we sparring?". Randy, sorry hank, you sicken my ass.

arguing on the boards is like running in the special olympics, even if you win you're still retarded.

Hmmm... I'm sure the above is a breach of some sort of conduct on the boards?

Anyway, I'm sorry if I kick so hard that I actually sprain my own ankle!

I understand where Heavy Weight is coming from, all-be-it a rude manner.

I've trained with the some of the best Kickboxers in Ireland, and sparred and fought in the black belt divisions against top competitors around Europe and the World and I've fought points and continous sparring, I haven't won all my fights but I've been in the ring with some of the best.

I'm not saying I'm wonderful or magnificant, or that Kickboxing is the best or the worst.

I'd like a friendly relaxed atmosphere. Where I can train hard but with no pressures. Something that Heavy Weight can't seem to provide and by his manners on here I wouldn't want to train with him/her anyway.

I'm not saying I want lazy training sessions, by all means work my ass off.

Definitely. Reported it a while ago. Just waiting on someone to delete it.

Ignore him tbh. If there was a reasonable sentence it it, then maybe take the points and discuss them....but it was all just agressive testosterone laden drivel.

Don't feed the troll. Heavyweight banned (I imagine I'll get a rude PM about this). Didn't see the mail for the reported post yet.

Found somewhere, all sorted. Start Monday. It's with a bloke that I trained with many years ago and he's eager to get me back. Sweet.
