Having trouble with webcam

    Hi guys,
I bought a webcam yesterday for using with Windows Live Messenger (aka MSN Messenger). I have Vista Home Premium and the webcam is supposed to be compatible with it. The webcam is a Creative Live! Optia, 29.99 in Argos. It has a microphone, face tracking, all that jazz. Anyway I hooked it up and installed the software. Now when I use it with MSN I can see myself alright and the other person can see me but I can't hear the other person and they can't hear me. When I go into the Audio and Video settings on MSN, the speaker test and the microphone test are both fine. The speaker and microphone also work fine within the webcam's software. What am I doing wrong??? It's very frustrating, I got the webcam because I was spending a fortune on phone calls and now nobody can hear me!

PS I have my speakers turned up full blast so it's not that. Also I tried using a stand-alone mic instead of the webcam's mic and that didn't work either. Sometimes when I go into the settings on MSN it tells me it can't connect with the webcam because its in use with another program (when it isnt), other times it isnt. I swore I would never buy a Creative product again after my two Zens dying for no reason, plus their software is about 5 small programs instead of just 1 decent one.

In the settings of Live Messenger where is the audio set to come from? Is there a drop down box where you can select the audio input device? [not familiar with windows live settings]

    Hi,
Yes you can choose what device to use for your audio and mic and I have the right ones picked.

Ok, good. Control Panel>Sounds and Audio Devices>Advanced volume controls Is there anything muted? Line in or microphone?
[This is for xp, assuming vista is similar]
