Sick pay, social welfare and time off.

Never been seriously sick before in my life but now I am (kind - Doctors still don't know what's wrong).

I've been off now for as number of weeks, in and out to the doctor and finally refered to the hospital (no help either, more tests :( ). It's all legit and everything and I have certs, both from my Doctor and for Social welfare.
I've been asked by work to send them into them, which is fine the doctor told me that if I was to get money from the welfare I'd have to sign it over to the company who would take it out of my pay, seems fair enough.

But I have a pile of forms here and I dunno if I fill them out myself, or send them into HR blank or what. There is no direction on any of them as to what I do with them re employers. Only about sending them to the Social welfare office.

Anybody been through thing who knows what I should be doing?

    Thanks in advance.

Fill out everything and make sure to sign every social welfare cert. There's a section on the s/w certs regarding payment to your employer or payment into your bank account. Choose the payment to employer option.

Send your doc certs and yellow social welfare certs to your employer. They will process them, pay you your sick pay and get the social welfare portion given to them by s/w.

A word of caution: my employers stopped processing my s/w certs when my company sick pay ran out. Because they were no longer paying me, they were no longer entitled to the s/w payment so they stopped sending them in to s/w. They just kept them at payroll and I didn't know this was happening until I stopped getting any pay of any kind.

They only had interest in the s/w certs while they had something financial to gain from them. After that they just collected them and sent them back to me after a few weeks.

Maybe you could send a letter with the certs to ask your employer to let you know as soon as they stop paying you and when you are to stop sending the certs to them.
