I heard on the radio that people are smoking more since the banning of packs of 10 cigs, i'm fooking glad, maybe they can sort out this problem properly instead of doing stupid sh1t like banning 10 packs and raising the price


the moral of the story of this thread is that all adults are being punished because a few adults can't seem to control their kids

Firstly i didn't care about the banning of 10 packs, but everyone with half a brain could see it would make no difference.

Secondly, stop trying to help the government they blow enough of our cash already. Another few price hikes and a huge black market for cigs will appear and that will cause the Government to lose revenue which might/will in turn cause other taxes to rise for everyone(not just smokers)

Same here in Melbourne. They have this glorious invention known as 25 boxes. So now I smoke 25 a day. Life just got one quarter better!

They dont actually put the tar / nicotine levels on the carton so you cant check which new brand is the lighter / heavier smoke.
I like to smoke lights. Not like silk cut ultra light, but a bit lighter than marlboro lights. They have marlboro silvers here, which certainly taste lighter, but since I dont have the required info, who am I to know?
Of course, the real issue is that lighter smokes are still probably as likely to kill you, but it certainly helps to know that if you are on a night out and smoke way too much, you can wake up the morning after and still have something resembling a throat.

welcome to the nanny state, its been around for a long time now. Did you not get the 400 page introduction regarding the correct method of walking. This method, when correctly applied cuts down on your rate of breathing, thus reducing co2 and helping to save the whales.

I saw a 65 y o man with his hands all over a lighter yesterday. It was disgusting. Underage lighters need to cop on and stop thinking its cool to be lighting fags for complete strangers

it's a very condescending law anyway, the idea that kids will never think 2x10=20 is just stupid, it's one of the first things you learn in school. so unless they skip that particular 'times table' in primary school from now on i don't see the problem improving.

I think that and I'm a smoker - the person's routine is still the same, their opportunities to smoke are still as limited.

That's totally misleading as the rating is based on a special machine they use to simulate a smoker. The machine smokes a sample then they measure the amounts of nicotine and tar taken in.

The problem is, the 'lip' of the testing machine doesn't cover the ring of small perforations that appear in the middle on the filter of the cigarette, so a lot of the smoke escapes when testing, leading to a low reading for tar and nicotine.

When a human smokes one of the lighter brands, their lip will usually cover this ring of perforations, therefore giving them the full hit of tobacco.

The 'lighter' brands use the exact same tobacco mix as their stronger variants. The only different with the likes of Silk Cut Ultra etc is the number of perforations that are put on the filter mid-way.

If it helps, in the states Marlboro silver are Marlboro Ultra Lights. I smoked them over the summer, as the normal Marlboro lights seemed a lot stronger.

Oh those lighters wreck my head, what i do is just cut off the clip part that you have to press of the safety thing and it works perfect then.

Yeah but it's not that big of a black market, and can usually be quite limited as to what you can get.

However, it would be absolutely great if they were more available. At this stage I'd be more comfortable giving my money to gangs than to our failure of a government.
