Is there a point to this thread or should I just lock it now?

ok to give the thread a little more meaning I have a question relating to this....

I'm based in Wexford area and subject to a positive pre-planning meeting will be going through the process of obtaining a percolation test. My architect has advised me a cost of about 1800 euros + vat for this to take place...I'm positive this is a complete price including hiring a digger to make the holes...etc

does this price seem reasonable or should I be looking to obtain a few quotes (from the approved testers on cc site)...based on the previous post it seems a hell of a lot (even if it meant I had to hire a digger myself!)

    any info would be appreciated

    Cheer

The cost of the site assessment/percolation test in Donegal ranges from €450 - €600 plus the digger.

I got the test done in kk for €400, but we used our own digger

In South Tipperary its generally in the region of €800+VAT and you supply a digger as well.

The fee in Laois has been e300 for the last few years.
In both Offaly and Laois the council themselves carry out the percolation test. In Laois they carry out a (imperfect) SR 6 test. Offaly carry out a basic SR 6 test but do P tests as well.
Other surrounding councils.. Carlow, Kildare, Kilkenny require outside (sometimes accredited and nominated) agents to do EPA testing. This requires both an on site and a desk study. Generally these can cost from 500 - 800 yo yos......

I paid 600 in January (digger supplied by me), that included a topographical survey & cad drg of site from OS Map c/w levels. Great job, money well spent, was quoted 900 + mileage (digger not incl) by another fella.
