    Really?
In my opinion it looks terrible.

I think I'm one of only a few that find Will Ferrell painful to watch.
Most of his movies are the same stupid humour.

I'm the complete opposite. Any time he opens his mouth it puts a smile on my face. Even his small part in The Producers was the only funny thing in the film

I'm resurrecting this thread from a few years back just to say that Semi-Pro is my favourite Will Ferrell movie, yet it appears to have been slaughtered by everybody. I just love it :pac: Will is great in it, Woody Harrelson is very funny , the music is fantastic (especially Love Me Sexy), and the setting is quite unique too (amateur basketball team in 70s Flint, Michigan)

    Anyone else like it?

I remember liking it, but I've only seen it once, unlike the multiple viewings I've done of Elf, Anchorman, Talladega Nights, and Step Brothers.

I plan to rewatch Semi-Pro soon, I'm trying to rewatch some of the Ferrell films I've only seen once. I rewatched Blades of Glory this week. Hilarious.

    Personal philosophy: clothing optional.

I'm surprised it's got such a bad reputation. I've seen it 3 or 4 times and know like 3 other people who love it. It's definitely one of his funnier films with plenty of quotable lines. You've even got Woody Harrelson in there. What's not to like?

Plus it's got one of my fav disco songs ever

I know it's a parody song, but it's still great. Plus Will's sincere delivery really makes it :)

I get the impression in Will's recent films that he doesn't care anymore. Before he used to fully commit to every character, regardless of how ridiculous the character was. Now he just seems to go through the motions.

Anyways, highlights from Semi-Pro are him wrestling the bear, telling Father Pat "I'll murder your family" after he gave a foul against him, the jive-turkey scene, Jackie Earle Haley as the dirty hippy, plus lots more. One of my favourite scenes is when Jackie/Will is trying to hype the arrival of Woody Harrelson's character, Monnix, a big league player reaching the end of his career, and when he announces him to the locker-room of players, Woody saunters in blowing his nose, and tells Jackie he's just clogged the toilet :pac:

Yeah this and Blades of Glory would be up there with my favourite Will Ferrell movies. I think they both got mixed reviews but they are good for consistent laughs and that's enough for me. Got that song stuck in my head now in work, I have to make an effort not to sing it out loud or I'll be having an unwanted meeting with HR

One of my favorite scenes from any Will Ferrel film is when he's being tried in Blades of Glory and his defense is to open up a sports magazine and point out and shout the headline 'CHAD MICHAL MICHALES IS FIGURE SKATING'. :D
