    Hi
I was just wondering if I was going to collect a puppy I was buying in Northern Ireland and bringing it down South do I need a Pet passport? Do I need anything else? Or can i just go and collect without any papers like that?

Please help. The person suggested they fly her down to me but i would rather go and collect and see that I am getting what I am paying for also not a fan of shipping animals especially young animals unless absolutely necessary

You dont need a thing to bring a dog from the UK. Its a common travel zone.

Erm...so you've never seen the puppy?

And the breeder was happy to fly a puppy down to someone who has never even seen the puppy?

If its not too late....I'd be backing out of this deal as fast as I possibly could...

What breed is it, as a matter of interest?

Ok guys well its a maltese terrier, He sent me pictures and I was going to collect before paying any money as I would want to see what I was getting. I was just about to agree to the whole thing when the person upped the price from 300 to 650 euro and wanted 300 up front before I could see any papers or anything and the whole time had me believing he was going to email me scanned copy of papers before I went to collect and then started giving me sob stories on his life, so I told him I wasn't 100% certain about the whole situation so turned him down. I was raging but better safe than sorry. I am aware of scammers on the net thats why I want somewhere within Ireland & Northern ireland so I can collect.

Thanks dollydishmop for the advice. I got out of it in time. I know deep down I was just getting too excited and was never 100% bout the whole thing and was just rushing in but I coped myself on pretty quickly. But I won't hand any money over until I get to see the puppy and see all the papers. I've been onto IKC and got a number of a lady who deals with the maltese. haven't got a chance to give her a ring yet but will do that over the weekend. So fingers and toes crossed!!!

Oh my PinkDiva, you've had a lucky escape there!

Well done for copping on and stopping the deal. Definitely sounds like a scam, and the fact that anyone was happy to sell you a puppy without meeting you and without you meeting the bitch and pups etc was very worrying!

Good luck with the IKC breeder, fingers crossed for you here :)
