    Hi,

Bought a brand new Sony VAIO VGN-CR21 3-4 months ago and yesterday my wife broke the screen, a long line from the top to the bottom.

Should I call VAIO support in Ireland or is there a good company down here specialized in laptops that can get me a new screen?

    Thank you

Call them first. Someone else on here got a screen replaced under warranty although that was with dell. It can't hurt though.

Yes you should definetly call them or open a case on their e support portal:

    https://e-support.vaio-link.com/eSupport/PortalJSP/Portal.jsp

I had a few problems and found them very helpful and efficient

They'll ask u to send in photos and then they will give an opinion to you.If its been damaged,it will be out of warranty and im afraid that it will be very expensive, around the 800 euro mark thru them.Id go find a repair shop if i was u.

    Alright thanks guys
If it is 800 euro, gonna throw this **** to the bin, no point of fixing it.
That's half of the purchased price almost.

That's only their price. I'm sure you could get it done cheaper.

salvage the harddrive, ram, optical drive and stick them up on adverts.

buy a monitor and use it as a home pc?

    donate to charity.

plenty of other things to do than just throwing it into the bin.
