Alternative to Magnetnetwork for FTTH in Ireland?

I am signed up to the Magnet FTTH service at the moment. Everything's generally okay, but their STB is poor for the TV. It only has a single tuner and no facility for my HDD recorder to change the channel, so I can't set it to record programs when I am away.

Is their any other company in Ireland offering a similar service with a better STB setup?

No, odds are Magnet have rights to the development. AFAIK no one else can come in (that may have been changed). Not a lot of help but I would complain, complain, complain. They may get a different STB.

Does that not amount to a monopoly?

I will email them again. Play up the "Sky alternative" angle and see what they say. If anyone else wants to do the same, feel free!!
