Is it possible to remain within the departure area at Stansted when arriving from Ireland on Ryanair and transferring to an Easyjet flight? Or do i have to do the hokey cokey with their lovely security staff?

you got to collect your bag and check in with the EasyJet staff at Stansted.

I'm checking in online with hand luggage only so I don't need to go to either companies desk, I want to try to speed things up for myself by not leaving airside.

Aren't arriving passengers funnelled through airside on a lower level than departures at Stansted direct from the tarmac? It's been a while since I've been through there and I'm always racing through to get out of the place ASAP so I never really checked that sort of thing.

I would be surprised if it is not against the rules but that doesn't mean it can't be done.

If you are planning on booking two flights very close together then don't, chances are something will go wrong and it is not worth the grief of a missed flight.

spot on! you arrive on a lower level and then head up a stairway where there's a glass partition between the incoming and outgoing passngers. there's no way to hop over without using some sort of emergency exit which is obviously not recommended. i was told anecdotally of a passenger doing this as they were switching between 2 ryanair flights. apparently security arrived and removed them from the terminal building, interrogated them for a while and then told them they had to go and check in for the 2nd flight.

you still have to go back through security so they can scan your online checkin slip. otherwise the airline would have no idea if you are or aren't in the building, potentially delaying the flight, that would be my take on it.

Ya, same as yourself, I normally tear through at high speed to get out of there!
I did notice a sign the last time with 'connecting flights' on it pointing to the right, immediately before you go up the last escalator, so obviously there is some provision for doing this.

If your catching a connecting flight the same day id ensure you give it as long as possible or even overnight if your flying Ryanair, i was lucky at xmas i gave it overnight as the Ryanair flight i was due to get from DUB > LGW was delayed 6 hours, only for i left the night before i was missing my flight to Dubai via Doha.

I'm afraid youll have to go out to the check in area. i had to do the same last year.
also: beware of the security queues in stanstead...crazy waiting times... :mad:have went through 3 times in the last 12 months. each time it took over an hour. loads of people missed one particular flight because of the delays.
