    Hi,

I was thinking off booking a holiday to the Maldives in September but heard it was a bad time due to the rainy season. Would anyone have experience with holdiaying in the Maldives around this time or have holidayed their before and could tell me isit a good destination.

The Maldives are absolute paradise! I was there for a week in late March last year and we had the most amazing time. We stayed at the Kuramathi (sp?) Blue Lagoon resort, in a water bungalow and it was the holiday of a lifetime. The food was amazing, the scenery, the weather (very hot around mid day), the hotel and service, all flawless. The rainy season would be a bit of a bummer as it's a sun holiday with time on the beach and swimming & diving.

It costs a fair bit, but was worth every cent. Flight time was a pain, but there's probably no better place in the world to chill out and be pampered than the Maldives.

(It's very much a couples destination, or a group of couples.)

Definitely March is a much better time to visit the Maldives.
I was there for 2 weeks in March about 4 years ago and it was glorious. I returned the following year (to a different atoll) for 3 weeks in September and the first week was fine, but then it rained a LOT!
It depends on what sort of holiday you want; if you're a diver, the rain wouldn't impact a whole lot. However, if it's a beach holiday (there's very little else to do in the Maldives, lol) then I'd avoid the rainy season (even though September is the tail end; you could be lucky or very unlucky and have rain for the whole holiday). It was dark, cloudy and WET the day we left and the faces on the poor people we saw just arriving was awful! You're paying a lot of money to go to the Maldives so I'd make sure I went over the winter/early spring to increase the chances of good weather.

    Enjoy, I'm very jealous :-)
