Took a few photos to help new people to find HRTA., its gonna take 2 posts with the amont of pics so dont post in between you newbs.,:p

Get onto the M1 from where ever your comming from, M50 for most or from citycentre through dorset street, drumcondra, by santry and straight up to the M1., its well sign posted,;)
head northbound on the M1 and about 5mins up the M1 you'll cross a big bridge thats made from concrete, this is it in the pic.
    2257253167_cf304213f9_o.jpg

youll be taking the first exit after that bridge, this is the sign,
    2258050966_8d8ab71eba_o.jpg

when you come to the top of that exit theres a roundabout, you will be leaving at the third exit so as to cross the motorway bridge, once across you will come to another larger roundabout seen here,
    2257254349_c5e7fe45c8_o.jpg
proceed straight through this roundabout and you will be on this road,
    2257254653_321272e986_o.jpg
you'll pass a statoil garage on the right side of the road,
    2258052240_03fc6d4c82_o.jpg

you'll come to another small roundabout, go straight through this one aswell,
    2257255201_a66e5551e9_o.jpg

Once past that you'll see a retail park on your right with a mitsubishi dealer on the corner,
    2257255809_0d160b56cc_o.jpg

keep going straight and you'll pass an Esso garage, (theres a supermacs in there if you want to get food on the way),
    2257256293_2615a52f7d_o.jpg

soon after the esso you will see a left turn for ballyboughal, take this turn.
    2257256579_d812f877d3_o.jpg

Follow this road all the way and you will cross a bridge and there will be a haulting site on the left. this is the road you will be on.
    2257257095_d08fa38586_o.jpg

Keep going and you will come to a crossroads, you will be taking the right turn at this cross roads.
    2257257503_d3075c967b_o.jpg

Keep going straight down this little road, be careful though, theres some pot holes there that you could loose a 5 year old in.,
    2257257805_b6ed7a4b56_o.jpg

at the end of the road you'll see this house, take the left turn here.

after you turned at the above house continue past the old derelict cotage looking gaf and follow the road around, you'll come to this, follow it around to the left.
    2257258603_14ba390a56_o.jpg

then you'll be on this road, your nearly there.,
    2257259249_b55ea48bb8_o.jpg

next you'll see this house on your left, right facing it is another yellow house,
    2258056908_8d94ec9298_o.jpg
this is the house oposite the previous one, take this turn down the lane here,
    2257260079_658f9f3d2c_o.jpg

then you will be on this road,
    2258057588_fe3c16b1c6_o.jpg

keep going another 100meters or so and you'll see this entrance, dont park in here though, head towards the house in the background,
    2257260905_78ec7e8fe2_o.jpg

This is the entrance to the carpark, and congratulations, you found HRTA,;)

Crikey, this isn't all the route I took the last couple of times. Explains how come I still haven't been - and had a game either :-(

(I've been going straight through to Ballyboughal at that crossroads)

    Well thanks very much!

(Edit: Ahhh, I posted too soon! It's different route, and it means I was within 100 metres of the damn place :-( )

Useful. I was gonna do the same on Sunday, but using the existing route in the Newbie Thread (I made a new map last week for this route and kdouglas added it to the thread).

I however, forgot to bring my camera. Doh!

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 11,001 ✭✭✭✭Masada

lol., i was gonna do a vid but pics make more sense because people can print them and bring them along to be sure of the route.,

Handy alright, especially the photo of that last bit. I'm normally a good navigator but I just couldn't find the right turn-off for HRTA on that little backroad. After several attempts, I still haven't met you lot in the flesh :(

lol., yeah i had the same problem at first., i thoguht it was an entrance to the house.,

Best thing is to look for the "Concealed Entrance" sign. Take the left just after that.

you only see that sign if coming from the swords side, following vtec's directions you come from the other way

I saw that sign alright; my initial problem was not trying hard enough; I didn't go far enough down the road from Ballyboughal (badly underestimated how far a kilometre is). Then, when I got as far as that sign the following time, I wasn't sure if that was it, or if I'd gone past it. And it was getting too dark to be sure, and you'd all probably cleared off by then too.

thats a bad road where you turn right at the cross roads vtec, the best way is to come by the back of the airport and it's a better road and it can take 15 mins less, i'll do up a map,or look up naul road for the airport on a road map and you see what i mine.

This week I'm going to watch every minute of Bear Grylls that I can get away with before my girlfriend beats me to an inch of my life with cockroach entrails. Then, next Saturday I'm going to head out early, car fully stocked with 2 days of food and water, with maps, satnav/GPS tracker, compass, divining rods and a magic chicken foot. And vtec's photos.

I might even bring some Airsoft gear in case I find the place ;)

i know the road your talking about there, ya come out on the farside of the runway where people park up to watch the plnes, i used it to get home once when i was curious aout weather i was going the right way or not and it took 11mins longer than the way i go now.,lol, most of the potholes where refilled recently but theres 2 pretty big ones near the end of the road comming to the big white house.,
