Roy Scheider dead

Just after reading that Roy Scheider died yesterday. For those who don't recognise the name he's most famous for the line "You're gonna need a bigger boat" which he delivered as Police Chief Brody in the classic film Jaws, though he'll always be Captain Nathan Bridger.

It seems actors have been dropping like flies in recent weeks. First Renfro, then Ledger and now Scheider.

Thats terrible news, so it is :( He was brill in Jaws and 2010. And maybe it was just me, but he never seemed to grow any older from the first time I saw him (he was always tanned and craggy looking from the start!).

    R.I.P. Roy.

    It's a real shame.

Why the hell couldn't it have been Rob Schneider instead?

That sucks, but hey he lived to 75! Thats pretty good. I did not think he was that old, considering how like others have said.. he always looked the same age :D

Then again, look at Christopher Lee! Born in 1922 and still at it! He is 86 and still making movies.

Jaws blew me away when I was a kid.

Older than I thought, a steady star name through the 70s he never quite made it to the top tier with some duff choices in the early-mid 80s. Hence ending up on TV I guess.

    Mike.

I always liked the guy in movies and TV and as a kid I wanted nothing more than to be him as I piloted Blue Thunder around the skies :D

Oh yeah.. Blue Thunder!!! Never as good as Airwolf i thought, although i think he should have been in Airwolf. He would have been better.

Last film I saw him in was Dracula 3: Legacy. He only had a small role in what was a surprisingly enjoyable film.

Always liked him as an actor.

Should be worth a few bad taste jokes also.

    He's dead?
On November 12, 2003, Brandis died from injuries he suffered after hanging himself the previous day.
    Damn, he was only 27.

Only heard this now. Very sad news:(

My favourite film of all time is Jaws (And French Connection isn't far behind). Himself, Dreyfuss and Shaw are incredible in Jaws.

2 great lines - 'We're gonna need a bigger boat' and 'Smile you son of a bitch'!...love it:) Gonna watch it, yet again, now...anyone who has never got a hold of the special anniversary DVD it's well worth a look crammed full of extras and behind the scenes gems from a masterful movie.

    ...You'll be missed Roy. R.I.P.

Sad news indeed. Thought he was great in 'Jaws', 'The French Connection' and 'Blue Thunder'. A man who wasn't afraid to poke fun at himself and have a laugh at himself as well, as this commercial shows......

Plus, anyone who's seen the Toilet Training video he did in 'Family Guy' will know how much of a laugh and a good sport he was! :D

R.I.P. Roy. :( I think this scene from 'Jaws' is a great way to remember him.
