    Hi,
The touchpad on my Inspiron 1300 does not work when I want to click something. Anyone else have this problem.
Also, my laptop won't allow me to change my desktop picture. Again, is there a way around this? Have I clicked a setting I don't know about?

    Thanks

    Eoin

Does this mean that the "double tap" option is not working on the touchpad?
Or that the buttons dont work?
If its the touchpad, you can turn this on again with control panel > Mouse > touchpad. Check around in this control panel option, you could have the buttons turned off.
Failing that, you may have to slide out the keyboard to remove the touchpad, check the connectors and clean it out a wee bit.

Touchpad not working could be either hardware related (ie. the parts not working right0 or software (the drivers for it,or settings aren't right).
Try reinstalling the drivers for the touchpad by downloading this
    http://support.euro.dell.com/support/topics/global.aspx/support/downloads/en/downloads_splash?c=ie&l=en&s=gen&~mode=popup&file=160150
Install it and restart, see does it make a difference. Check the "Mouse" settings under Control Panel also to see if double tap is disabled for the touch pad.
The Background picture issue could be a number of things, spyware etc so I recommend downloading Spybot or ad-Aware from www.filehippo.com and seeing if they pickup anything.

    Yeah, the doubletap won't work.
Thanks a million for that. Will give it a try.
