Lightroom Presets

I have finally started to read a book I bought a few months ago called "The Adobe Lightroom Book for Digital Photographers" by Scott Kelby.

Looking through it has been interesting including the ability to install presets into Lightroom. Apologises if this is old hat to you all but I found it interesting and have had fun playing around with it.

Looking around the web I then came across this link which lists websites where various presets can be downloaded.

So far I have looked at Inside Lightroom and had fun playing around with these presets.

I have posted the same photo adjusted for the presets into a flickr set

effect of Lightroom presets on a photo

(...and yes, I know he should have straightened his tie in the photo:) but I was only using the photo to play around with)

p.s thanks to my work colleague Damian who posed for this photo and now is unwttingly on flickr !

Is Lightroom for Raw only or does it do Jpegs as well

Both, but the amount of latitude you have to adjust with jpegs is less, (hardly surprising since the camera has already applied some development).

The other modules will work almost exactly the same.

Lightroom is probably one of the better programs for editing and processing your photos, unless you're looking to heavily ps your images of course. If its just adjustments like highlights, shaddows, cropping, straightening, wb, redeye, saturation, curves etc etc you're making, its far easier and quicker. I know a few friends have found it a little slow to get used to, once you get your head around the shortcuts its invaluable

We should also give a pat on the back to the folks at adobe, it looks like LR was built to allow easy sharing of presets and also web galleries, theres some nice stuff on here.

my favourite LR preset is the 300. You need to pull back the pretty heavy vignetting sometimes, but it's a great look IMO

Likewise, it's a great one indeed!!!

I wonder if such a thing as copying all these free presets to a local hosting resource and listing them in the darkroom forum would be a runner?

There's nothing more annoying than finding a dead link...

If peoples favorite presents (or actions) were hosted by one of our own and direct links were made available there'd be no fear of dead links or inaccessible pages :D

it's a lot of hassle, Rymus, for someone to do that. They're actually easy enough to find if you just search for 'Lightroom Presets' in Live or Yahoo...
