... reckons we have turned a corner with the Ireland set up because we brought in heaslip to the set up

they guy was runner up of young player of the year 2004 and gets his first six nations cap in 2008 because EOS was going to be fired if he didnt and he reckons it was a shrewd move... he hasnt a clue!!

Hook was visibly biting his lip when o'shea said it...

Just his opinion in fairness. Hook has made some very outlandish observations in the past. O'Shea talks a lot more sense then Hook normally, and whether you agree with him or not its all his opinion which is why he is on the panal...

in all fairness to o'shea, he's talks more sense than any other pundit on six nations tv at the moment. mind you, i don't think we have " turned a corner " either.

    true true

but Hook is there for entertainment value, O shea is suppose to bring a more realistic perspective

I have to admit Hook is becoming a bit too much to listen to. He's moved on from his "that ball traveled so far it should have had a hostess on board" time to just being a broadcast tosser IMO.

I for one would sooner listen to O Shea & Pope.

    Gerry Ryan does Rugby...

Definetely prefer pope too all of them, i think he has more interesting points of view to give than the 2 others. hooks has moments but is quite annoying sometimes the way he gets really negative

pope is terrible. all he does is sit on the fence. i don't agree with what hook is saying some of the time, but at least he has an opinion.

    hook is legendary.
"Reggie Corrigan is so out of date that if he was a pot of yogurt he'd have a tree growing out of him"
    lol. solid gold that.

Conor O' Sheas's left testicle knows more about rugby than you ever will. Why do you think the RFU pay him so much money to run their accademy. Get a grip seriously.

And for the record finally having rid of Easterby and geting Heaslip in to the team is a massive step for us. Did you see how well he played on Saturday? He is going to be a fantastic player for Ireland over the next few years.

O'Shea's point, iirc, was "yes it should have been done ages ago, yes blah blah, but it wasn't, its been done now. and its a good decision, regardless of whether it should have been done previously".

Its a good thing Heslip has finally come into the setup, just regretable it took so long, imagine how good he'd be now if we started blooding him 2 seasons ago..

That was my understanding of his comment also.

it would have been a good decision 4 years ago

look at france they are willing to sacrifice the next two six nations in order to build a 2011 WC team

while we approach it and all our friendlys and pointless tours like they are world cups, no blooding of young players, stick with the tried and tested etc

it figures that EOS is statistically the best coach but if you drill into those figures they are probably just full strength teams getting results in tours of JAPAN etc

disagree with everything you say, Easterby is a solid streetwise player that wears his experience on his face (broken noses and sewn up lips)

O Shea hasnt a fricking clue what he is talking about, he just likes to throw on a good suit and look pretty sitting beside the two mongos hook and pope

Well if he doesn't have a clue about rugby why is he heavily involved with the RFU?

good question and why did they give EOS a new contract just before he bombed in the WC..

I wish the RFU would give EOS a contract ;)

Because they, like everyone else, thought Ireland would do rather well in the WC, thus increasing fast Eddie's market value. In effect they tried to get him on the cheap, thinking they were cute hoors. Instead they ended up with a pig in a poke, the feckin' eejits...

For all Eddies faults he still obviously knows a thing or two about rugby-likewise O'Shea. You don't get a job like that for nothing in the RFU so saying he doesn't know what he is own about is a bit dramatic.

O'Shea shouldnt be in the studio, he was a terrible player and an even worse commentator.

He's even worse than that twat the bbc have commentating on the games.

Why doesnt he just run some errands for his rfu paymasters.

    +2 on both these...

Me think's O'Shea must have turned down shantors rambling advances once upon a time ..

ye shantar your dislike for O'Shea must stem from something deeper than just his punditry-he comes accross as a sound bloke on the TV. Whats with all the negativity?

the only Irish TV celebrity I dont like, is derek davies, I asked him for an autograph when I was about 9 years old and he told me "not here, not ever".. and the autograph wasnt even for me, my cousin put me up to it lol

na I dont have anything against O'Shea personally but he seems to split people in two, half think he is an eejit and the other half thinks hes the man

I just dont rate his commentary.. and I agree he wasnt the best international player

Is that a negative, or just an observation?
