i recently moved all the data from an old hard drive to a new bigger one using migrate easy 7.0.

but now when i open my computer the cd ( D: ) drive is missing, and when i put a cd into the drive it is not recognised.

there are no error messages showing.

    can anyone help?

Check the settings in your bios.

Check your bios and manually select CD Drive for secondary IDE controller or wahtever you have it plugged into.

DEL/F2 when you start up the PC, read the screen to see which.

What exactly did you do? Add a hard drive or replaced one? What did you do with the IDE cables?

add a new hdd as a slave hdd, then copyed the data.

swapped the new hdd to master, made the old hdd slave and formatted the old hdd.

didnt use ide cables used SATA cables.

checked all the wires and there all secure

i did find that all the usb ports have different letters, what used to J: is D:

maybe all i have to do is rearrange the ports? do you know how to do that

Check in windows to see if you can see the cd drive. You may not need to change the bios.
    Start>run>diskmgmt.msc
It may just need a drive letter if you can see it.

You should see peripheral setting or Harddrive settings or IDE settings or something. Play around and youll find it, if you find the master and slave hdd settings you should be there.
