Season 2

I've picked up season 1, 2 and 3 and have begun to make my way through them. I quite enjoyed season 1 but I'm struggling to get through season 2. I'm on episode 15 at the moment and I just can't bare to watch it. It has gotten very dull and some of the characters are so tiresome. Claire in particular, has to be the most irritating character in the history of television. Now every time she speaks I have to fight the urge to turn it off. I thought Michael was bad for fast-forwarding moments but she takes it to another level. She makes me want to scratch my own eyes out.

Is it worth sticking with it; is season 3 better?

I'll try to keep this as spoiler free as possible.

There was a definite lull in Season2 around the middle, but episode 15 (Maternity Leave, a Claire backstory) was definitely one of the better episodes, so if you didn't like that then you are struggling :)
Also the Henry Gale character was introduced around this time, and he was quite popular on here.

Most of the remaining eps of Season2 (Lockdown, ?, Three Minutes, LiveTogetherDieAlone) were considered to be good as well.

Season three was a curates egg, the early episodes included some absolute garbage, and at the end some terrific stuff.

In general I think this program works far better when you are up to date with the latest episodes, and can join in the general discussion/theorizing/nerdiness on here with the rest of us.

    Hope that helps.

Yup there was some crap episodes in season 2 and early season 3. Though looking back at it, I think even the early season 3 episodes were better than some of the crap in season 2. Anyway, it does get better. Especially towards the end of season 3 you'll be glad you stuck with it.

And as for Claire, I actually really like her now but I used to be the same. Everytime she yelled "Chaaaawlie" I wanted to strangle her.

All that said, if you're actually fighting the urge to turn off the tv then why bother? If it's not for you don't watch it. Even the bad episodes, I didn't want to stop watching I still enjoyed the show. Then again, you would've just wasted a lot of money on boxsets if you don't watch them!

Nah, there's no point really. Lost isn't for everyone. I've loved every second of it but if you don't like season 2 you're not going to like season 3 or 4 either imo.

I meant when Claire is on-screen that I'm fighting on the urge (Sawyer, Eko etc are awesome), but she seems to be on the show more and more. She only seems to have three modes - whimpering, hysterical and ranting. Now it seems to be rubbing off on some of the others like Jack, Kate and so on, and the whole thing feels a bit rudderless - like the writers have tied themselves up in knots and can't figure out how to write the characters consistently.

I think I'll take a break for a bit and come back to it a few days.

I think you should keep watching. I was a bit impatient at times with Season 2, but really loved Season 3.

Season 2 is by far the weakest imo. Season 3 soon gets it back on track to stick with it.:)

After a long session of meditation and relaxation I gave it another go. I got through episode 15 by going to my happy place every time Claire spoke. I may have missed a few plot points but it was a necessary measure.

The next three episodes were great - no Claire! Henry Gale is indeed an interesting character. So I'll continue to watch.
