    WINNER:
'No Country for Old Men' with 36.36% of the vote

My own personal choice, so it's a good win. It's obviously a movie that was popular with voting Boardsies as it did won in nearly all categories it was nominated for.

My own choice again - was fiercely impressed with their work on this piece. A good win against deserving competition.

    NOMINEES:
    Eastern Promises
    Knocked Up
    Superbad
    Zodiac

    WINNER:
    'Zodiac' with 42.11%.

    OPINION:
Again this was my vote and I think the manner in which the various strands of the investigation were cohesively woven into a script make it a deserving winner.

    NOMINEES:
    Once
    Sunshine
    Transformers

    WINNER:
'Once' and 'Sunshine' tied in the votes. I invoked my powers to decide in the event of a tie and I choose... 'Sunshine'.

    OPINION:
Gorgeous and sublime work of beauty, it's frustrating that we have to wait for this release when so much other soundtrack/score pap gets out.

    NOMINEES:
In the Shadow of the Moon
    King of Kong

    WINNER:
'King of Kong' with a awards-high of 78.57% of the vote.

    OPINION:
Another good win. A heart-warming tale of the underdog taken place in a world that's normally mocked.

    NOMINEES:
Laura Dern as 'Nikki Grace/Susan Blue' in 'INLAND EMPIRE'
Angelina Jolie as 'Mariane' in 'A Might Heart'

Naomi Watts as 'Anna' in 'Eastern Promises'

    WINNER:
Naomi Watts as 'Anna' in 'Eastern Promises' with a comfortable 50% of the vote.

    OPINION:
I personally went for Dern but Watts was also excellent in this dark, under-appreciated movie.

    NOMINEES:
Shia LaBeouf as 'Sam Witwicky' in 'Transformers'
Christopher Mintz-Plasse as 'Fogell' in 'Superbad'
Thomas Turgoose as 'Shaun' in 'This is England'

    WINNER:
Christopher Mintz-Plasse as 'Fogell' in 'Superbad' with 42.66% of the vote.

    OPINION:
Much as I think 'Superbad' is incredibly over-rated, I'll grudgingly admit Mintz-Plasse was quite decent here. You should've voted for Turgoose though..

    NOMINEES:
Javier Bardem as 'Anton Chigurh' in 'No Country for Old Men'
Ben Foster as 'Charlie Prince' in '3:10 to Yuma'
Viggo Mortenson as 'Nikolai' in 'Eastern Promises'
Mark Ruffalo as 'David Toschi' in 'Zodiac'

    WINNER:
Javier Bardem as 'Anton Chigurh' in 'No Country for Old Men' with 45.83% of the vote.

    OPINION:
Excellent choice. Bardem's mop-haired performance as a psychopath was chillingly intense.

    NOMINEES:
Lives of Others/Das Leben der Anderen
    Paprika
    Science of Sleep
Tell No One/Ne le dis à personne

    WINNER:
'Lives of Others'/'Das Leben der Anderen' with 48.57% of the vote.

    OPINION:
Again a good choice in a year where I didn't (personally) feel we got to see many strong contenders.

    NOMINEES:
    Evan Almighty
    Ghost Rider
Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End
    The Simpsons Movie
    Southland Tales
    Spiderman 3
    Transformers

    WINNER:
'Evan Almighty' with 22.22% of the vote.

    OPINION:
Only saw a handful of these (and not the "winner") but surely it couldn't have been as bad as 'Southland Tales'. I'll be glad to never find out though with this win here.

    NOMINEES:
Jason Bourne - The Bourne Ultimatum
    Bumblebee - Transformers
Anton Chigurh - No Country for Old Men
    Fogell/McLovin - Superbad
    Nikolai - Eastern Promises

    WINNER:
Anton Chigurh in 'No Country for Old Men' with 34.69% of the vote.

    OPINION:
My own choice again - the cold killer with his own twisted morals will remain with me for a while to come.

    NOMINEES:
Bourne Ultimatum - Rooftop chase scene
    Eastern Promises - Bathhouse fight
No Country for Old Men - The coin-toss scene in the garage
Transformers - Attack on Qatar Base

    WINNER:
'No Country for Old Men' - The coin-toss scene in the garage with 33.96% of the vote.

    OPINION:
Yep, another good win here. The tension in that scene, all based on a coin, was amazing.

    NOMINEES:
    The Fountain
    Shooter
    Stardust

    WINNER:
'The Fountain' with 40.91% of the vote (winning over 'Stardust' by a mere one vote).

    OPINION:
As good as 'Stardust' was, it at least got a cinema release. This was criminally over-looked to fit in crap like 'I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry' and 'Norbit'. Shocking.

    NOMINEES:
    30 Days of Night
Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End
    Sunshine
    Transformers

    WINNER:
Comfortable win for 'Transformers' with 60.98% of the vote.

    OPINION:
They managed to bring giant metal robots to life without it looking like a cartoon. Personally preferred the beautiful sun shots of 'Sunshine' but this is deserving as well.

  • Moderators, Entertainment Moderators Posts: 18,002 Mod ✭✭✭✭ixoy

    NOMINEES:
    300
    Hot Fuzz
    Knocked Up
    Superbad

    WINNER:
'300' with 41.16% of the vote

    OPINION:
'Superbad' easily deserved the win here but I can see why '300' did win out. Personally I enjoyed it for the silly nonsense that it was but it seems a fair few did not.

    NOMINEES:
    Bee Movie
    Paprika
    Ratatouille
    TMNT

    WINNER:
'Ratatouille' with 61.11% of the vote.

    OPINION:
Good win from the three I've seen. Pixar are back on sharp form here, which hopefully they'll continue with the promising 'WALL-E'.
