    Hi,

I am in the middle of renovations to my bungalow, getting two new bedrooms added on and my sitting room extended. I am also getting the whole front and sides of my house re-plastered. We were hoping to get it rendered (K-Rend) but the builder is putting us of it a bit, even though its an extra thousand more for him. He said it can fade a lot and some houses can attract moss or crack.

Can anybody out there who has it on their house tell me what they think of it, any help would be grateful...

My house is being plastered (cement/lime mortar) at the moment and my plasterer tells me he is having problems with a chimney he is doing for a roofer with the silica render not going off.He did his own house with k-rend and he deeply regrets it.
He says if you have trees anywhere near your house the linchens, moss etc will attach to the render and your wall will turn green over time.
And when you finally give in and paint it you will see the paint disapear into the wall.
His opinion is traditional render is a proven method here and as yet not been bettered. And no he's not ancient.
I think it causes a lot of grief for the plasterer to apply and the householder to maintain, a friend painted his k-rend last year and the house is only three years old as are some of his neighbours.
Do a bit more research on it before making a final decision.
