Kicking the ball out

More and more we see players knocking the ball out of play when a player goes down, thus stopping play. Should the ref not be the one to decide when play is stopped for an injury, and should refs start booking players for halting play like this?

Not against the rules to kick the ball out of play mate.

How could the ref penalise somebody for playing within the laws ? Next thing you know players will be getting a yellow for letting the ball go for a corner

i like when they kick the ball out, they dont have to, the ref is supposed to halt the play for an injury but it showes sportsmanship, so im all for it!

Im not entirely sure about this but i think the newest directive on this is that the referee should only stop play if it is a head injury or otherwise serious problem, and thats why your seing players go down holding their heads whenever they want to waste time.

there's nothing worse than conceding when a player from your own team is dwon injured (actually so)

Remember a 1999 FA Cup match at Highbury against Sheff Utd, sheff utd goalkeeper kicked ball out for an injury although Bergkamp was closing the keeper down, when we took the throw, Kanu got the ball crossed and Overmars scored. Arsenal won, but we offered Sheff UTd a replay and the game was replayed.

Yeah i'm all for it, though especially the big teams if they are losing by a goal and the other team kicks it out for an injury to a player from either team when they take the throw in they usually never kick it back, united have done it a few times.

I've played on a few teams, a few years ago I was playing against a team from tallaght (currently live there) and there was a tackle and one of their guys went down it looked pretty serious and everyone stopped including our keeper, btu of of their guys didnt and in the heat of the moment ran on looking bemused past our keeper and stuck it in the net and turned around expecting his team mates to be there when they were all just outside his box along with most of my team, the ref hadnt stopped play has they had the advantage so he had to allow the goal. Fair play to the lads they let us score from our kick off, handshakes all round at the end of the game.

no, its up to the ref to stop the match regardless of what type of injury, more often than not the ref doesnt notice the player on the ground so the players still kick it out!
