    Game Spirit Chase

Voy Por Ustedes is a dog

    That is all.

    Aon Chase

On his day getting 10lbs celestial Gold would give Denman something to think about, however i doubt today is that day but we can hope!!

    Tote Gold Trophy

I cant have Five dream, a 4 year old winning the supposed most competitive handicap of the year so im gonna take a shot in the dark here and go with Blue Bajan only 10 stone 4 and open to bags of improvement ( or maybe its just i love horses who travel so well :))

Paul Nicholls in his column in todaqy's RP appears to agree with you Richie! Nicholls reckons that he has the beating of VOY POR USTEDES with his horse MASTER MINDED.
    QUOTE:
"On Wenesday, Master Minded did a brilliant piece of work with Kauto Star. It was the sort of gallop that really took your breath away. "

Personally, I think Master Minded needs to brush up his jumping a bit ......... but it should be an interesting race.

Denman is different class. Unbelieveable today again bar one dodgy jump. This years Gold Cup could quite possibly be the best ever, it'll be some contest.

Master Minded was very impressive, looks a really top class horse, Ruby has another tough choice on his hands for the Champion Chase. I honestly couldnt pick between him and Twist Magic at this stage.

Denman was a lot better today than in Ireland, roll on Gold Cup day.

Having a 4yo fav in the Tote Gold Trophy was ridiculous.

Denman is simply a galloping beast. Can't wait for the Gold Cup

Master Minded was very impressive but Voy Por may still be of interest at the festival. A bigger field, strong gallop and a tough hill at the end of the race will see him in better light as both his last 2 starts where he looked to me to need further.

Denman is an amazing traveller...but I don't think he'll beat Kauto.

Voy por is no dog. Anyone who thinks so knows nothing about racing.

NAME ME ONE TOP CLASS 2 MILE HORSE HE HAS EVER BEATEN. STUFFED EVERYTIME HE HAS FACED A GOOD ONE.

He won an obviously sub standard Arkle beating Monets Garden Racing Demon Missed That among others, none of which have won over 2 miles since and are ever likely too ( R.I.P Missed That)

Then comprehensively stuffed by Foreman ( lol has hardly completed a race since) The champion chase he won has produced exactly 3 winners since ( Mr McGoldrick and Justified and Dempsey once each in egg and spoon company) and he has beaten such greats as One way and Hoo la Baloo and been well and truly stuffed by Twist Magic and Master Minded and also beaten by Kalce Mome.

Now son, you tell me where there is any proof in that lot that he is anymore than a lucky, well placed glorified donkey.

But hey i obviously know nothin about racing

The horse cant be blamed for there being no opposition around.

The Arkle he won was bang up to scratch imo, Monets Garden, Foreman, Missed That, Tamarinbleu and Racing Demon were all subsequent graded winnners including several Grade 1's.

You are wrong about those Champion Chase figures.
Dempsey has ran once since the festival in the grade 2 celebration chase and hacked up by 7 lengths. Newmill is out of love with racing, Well Chief and Dempsey are injured, etc so while it was a substandard renewal it was still a decent performance.

Kalca Mome was getting 26lbs off him and still only beat him 1/4 length, that was a hell of a run and is ridiculous to critisize.

Aside from that he has been beaten by Kauto Star and Twist Magic while coming second in two Tingle Creeks which is nothing to be embarressed about (also i think hes much better round Cheltenham than Sandown).

Foreman at Aintree when he might have been over the top after the Arkle and Foreman is no mug anyway.

Plus Master Minded last Saturday and at the weights Voy Por came out the better horse in that race.

Hes obviously no Azertyuiop or Moscow Flyer but he is a decent 2 miler.

Colonel Sanders has a point about the strong pace and he will be a much tougher nut to crack round Prestbury Park, in saying that the Nicholls first choice will be who im on but i think its wrong to say Voy Por is a "dog" by any stretch of the imagination.

Have to agree with MDWexford. VPU is a good solid champion chase winner.

Even in VPU is overrated in your opinion, its a bit different from labelling him a dog.

Your argument makes zero sense and there are massive gaps in your knowledge of form, therefore it is safe to conclude that you know nothing about racing.

Of course this is in great contrast to your argument, or rather lack thereof.

Lol. Less than 21/2 hours after being unbanned you come out with that gem. Idiotic in the extreme. Bye bye....

In my time in racing anyone who calls a horse a dog/pig infers said horse is ungenuine. I have seen no evidence that Voy Por is ungenuine, quite the contrary in fact.

I never said he was ungenuine, and i agree he has a big heart, just not the talent his results suggest he has. At his best he is Average, had he been around 3/4 years ago he would have been the equivelent of Cenkos or the like IMO. Massively flattered and lucky to be around in this era

you said he was a dog. Dog => ungenuine in my book and everyone else's book with whom I go racing too.

To be fair to VPU the Gap between him and Masterminded didnt extend over the last 300 yards or so i thought he ran well. Can someone correct me if i am wrong but i thought that VPU was giving weight away to master minded on sat. If that is correct then VPU is still the one i would rather be on come champion chase day.

In fairness about 6/8 months ago the champion chase didn't look like much of a race - shaping up to be a cracking renewal at the moment.

Gave 6lbs, beaten by 5l suggest that it would have been a close run thing at levels. VPU has the fact that he likes chelt in his favour, but i think Master Minded might just have his measure. For the stats men, 5yo have a poor record in the race. I dont think that will stop him.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 882 ✭✭✭fr wishy washy

I would think on better ground (which he should get) on his fav track (Chelt) at readjusted weights he would have a great chance of turning around the form.He looked anything but ungeniune on the run in @ Newbury Saturday as he stayed on gamely imh&ho.

What I'd give to own a leg in a pig/dog like VPU.

Ruby confirmed he's 'likely' to ride master minded today. 5yos do indeed have a very bad record as do 6yos (before VPU won last yr they had a wretched record)

IMO 4/1 VPU is a knocking ew bet to nothing

You'd have to think Master Minded has more scope for improvement as a younger horse and should be able to confirm the form provided he acts on the Cheltenham course.I'm surprised that Ruby would choose him over Twist Magic though because on faster ground surely Twist Magic is the best of the three of them although he fell at Cheltenham last year so maybe Ruby doesn't trust him to get round.Anyway it should be interesting to see if VPU can win another CC.I also think he was lucky with the lack of top class 2m chasers around. He would be about a stone inferior to Moscow Flyer at his best but there's no shame in that.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 7,669 ✭✭✭Colonel Sanders

I saw Master Minded in the parade ring before saturday's race and I can tell you looks anything but a 5yo.

If you look at Champion Chase stats course form is essential. Master Minded hasn't run there and while he was undoubtedly goig well when he fell last yr there's no guarantee Twist Magic would have gotten up the hill. I think I'd slightly prefer aster Minded of the Nicholls pair, I don't like horses that continually have excuses made for them and Twist Magic (in common with a number of Nicholls' horses) is such a horse.

Anyway what ever happens the CC is shaping up to be a cracking renewal.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,431 ✭✭✭Morgans

It is a four horse race however. To me Tamarinbleu is the each way value. Has posted the best performance this year, and Pipe I think has found the key to him. I think he might just set it up for Master Minded, but its definitely not beyond the realms of possibility that he will keep going.

Saying 5 year olds have a poor record in the races is nonsense because 5 year olds fo not tend to run in the race. Ergo your stat is worthless as we are straying into the unknown.

What was AdamantApproach banned for that post? Seemed reasonable enough to me.
