Bit of discusion at the table about the hand the villain in the hand said it was 70/30 that he would win the hand and i said that there was noway that he was that far ahead if he called my bet.

    Much appreciated lads.

As a general tip you can count your outs on the flop and multiply that figure by 4 to get an estimate of your % chance of winning.
So in this case you had 9 hearts to hit for a flush and 3 other non-heart fours to hit for a straight = 12 outs x 4 = ~48%.
If you are calculating on the turn then you multiply your outs by 2.2.

    ............................
very important is whether your 3 here is a h also. also what about the AQ? is the A or Q or both h's? These issues dramatically affect your % chance of winning by the river. If u have just 1 h i.e. the 7h and neither the A or Q is a h, you are basically drawing to a gutshot 4 more or less (plus the smaller probabilities of hitting a runner runner for flush, winning two pair/set). This works out at 23.33% approx. Now if you have two h's then you have the significantly increased probability of hitting a flush so this works out to be 47.5%. These are exact figures from the poker calc but you can get pretty close doing it in your head using "the outs method'' but just be aware of counting your 'outs' properly because sometimes it's easy to assume an 'out' is a out when if fact it is actually the other guy's out. Anyway i hope this helped, it's my first post on Boards and i'm just learning as i go along...so EO&E....
