Plastic bags and hot exhaust pipes

Stopped off on way home at local supermarket, one of their light plastic bags blowing around the car park landed on one of the pipes just where it comes out of the cylinder head. Now I have a piece of the bag stuck for about a foot along my nicely chromed pipes and burning away slowly. Can anyone advise how to get this mess off without scratching the chrome? Thanks
