My Mrs. has a Mitsubishi Space Star, in need of a replacement ignition key. I expected a price of around €120 etc, but she was quoted €300 by a main dealer. Isn't this a tad excessive, or am I missing something?

Space Star usually has a seperate fob for the central locking, so the key is just a transponder chip jobbie.
€300 sounds steep, unless there is other work involved.

    Thanks for the reply.

The dealer told her that it was €70 to get the key in from the UK + €100 to put a chip in it and hook it up to a computer + another €150 odd for the fob. It doesn't seem to be any different to any other chipped key. We're contacting another main dealer tomorrow for another quote, as I know that, on a previous occasion, they charged someone a hell of a lot less than the first main dealer, for another Mitsubishi key. If they are a lot cheaper, I'll be mentioning their name on here.

the chip on a Space Star is usually embedded in the key already AFAIK.
    didn't think they were seperate.
