    Hi All,

No expert on this, my cash fare to get on bus is €1.70 and I went looking for a 2 journey ticket, was told there not available anymore and I should use a 90 travel 10 pack or something? Anybody know if the pink 2 journey tickets will return? I hate having to route out change each time boarding bus, I think is a absolute f'in disgrace a popular enough ticket is disconntinued lol, what alternatives do I have?

Is that 2 consecutive bus journeys to get from A to B? If so a Travel 90 would be much cheaper for you. They are available at less than €20 for a pack of 10. They allow you 90 mins travel on any bus or number of buses provided that you commence your last bus journey within 90 mins of starting your first.

If not, a Travel 90 would still be an option but will not work out quite as well as the 3.20 two journey ticket

The Travel 90 10 pack costs €17, so that wouldn't actually give you any saving, but would be more convenient certainly.

Hopefully this type of thing will be less of an issue when the smart cards finally come in.

My college day is longer than 90mins ;), I'm sure the travel 90 thing is not what I'm looking for, I use the 3.20 tickets as a way to ensure not needing change for bus and not having to give in 2.00 rather than 1.70 when I'm stuck as who ever gets around to cashing receipts?. What benefits will the smart cards entail guys and will I be eligable for one?, is it you top it up with journeys or something? Anything has to be better than the not working pos system currently in place...

Yes it is, but you just use one ticket per journey, rather than one ticket per return trip as you used to do with the 2-journey tickets then :) I.e. a pack of 10 will last you a week. It doesn't work out any cheaper than if you paid the cash fare, but you have the convenience of not having to ferret around for change.

I have no problems getting €3.20s - supposedly there is enough stock to last until March (hence all the shops putting up signs saying they still had the old priced tickets). The 2 journey €3.80s (or whatever they were - can't remember) were indeed phased out.

As I say I'm no expert but the lady in SU shop told me 3.20s are no more and replaced by travel 90s, I might look into getting the €12 id card and then buy weekly ones :P, Pain though....

Actually she would appear to be correct. Since the 3.20 would become 3.40, and by 5 = €17 which is the same price and as the 10 x travel 90s - I guess it makes sence. Of course its a fuppin pain to have buy them in bundles of 10. Once the 3.20 stock runs out that'll be it so.

(All things being equal?) I get 5 buses and 5 luas a week, the Luas smart card is great for this - hope DB get the finger out... Of course I'll likely have 2 smart cards (which makes the whole thing that bit more stupid) - but its a start...

I suppose I make 10 journeys a week, so I guess buying the 10 pack of travel 90s would save hasstle of getting bus student ID + tickets, its a pain but yeah I'll look into getting em :)

And Remember YoYo that even if U ain`t going to utilize the Travel 90`s full timeframe, there`s nothing to prevent you doing your bit for Carbon Emissions by giving the ticket to somebody else to avail of the unused journeys within the 90 Mins...;)

It might not be strictly Kosher under T`s and C`s (?) but I cant see any prospect of an Inquisition once the Validator accepts the Ticket :)

If you're talking about the Student Travel Card, once you have a student ID card from your college it's very easy and quick to get at any of the 'express' centres, such as...

    * Trinity College, Student Union Centre.
    * University College Dublin, Old Students Union. 01-7167065
    * Dublin City University, Student Union. 01-7005392
    * Alan Hanna's Book Shop, Kevin Street, Dublin 2.
    * University College Cork, UCC Travel, Students Centre.
    * SAYIT Travel, 76 Grand Parade, Cork.
    * University of Limerick, Students Union.
    * NUI Galway, Students Union

They will take a photo and all you have to do is have your college ID, fill in a form, and pay (I think it's three euro extra for the photo).

And as far as I know, you don't have to be a student of the above to use them - I've gotten mine twice at Trinity's SU centre using a BCFE ID.

For myself the cost of the Student Travel Card is pretty much paid for in one or two intercity train trips.

When I was using travel 90s I usually got at least two journeys a week free due to a dodgy validator and drivers not caring about marking the ticket, after a few weeks I'd get a free weeks bus...
