You could use 3V, it would save you having to get a credit card and is probably quicker.

so you cant use an irish bank a/c to fund a paypal a/c, right? ive looked all over their site, bit confusing.

    No, you can't.

that sucks....another quickie, can i use, say, my mother's credit card to fund my paypal? i really dont want to get a credit card!.

Don't think so. The name on the card must match that on the Paypal account. You can send Paypal a cheque or bank draft and they'll credit the money to your account.

You can use your mothers credit card. Are you sure you cant send funds to your Paypal a/c from your bank a/c? Can you send money from your Paypal a/c to your bank a/c?

The surname must match the name on the account, but it seems you can change the fist name when registering a card.

Yes. It's well known that Paypal (a company which has it's European base in Ireland) can't accept money transfer from Irish banks.
Can you send money from your Paypal a/c to your bank a/c?

    Yes.

Cheers. What ways can I add funds to Paypal except of a 3V card? When I add funds, can I buy stuff off Ebay with it?

Another question guys, i have to buy something on ebay, around 1000 euros.
My credit card [associated with my pay pal] limit is 600 euros so cant use that, is it possible to register my mother ccard onto my account , temporarily?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,534 ✭✭✭Dman001

Yes you can but you can only change your CC on Paypal 12 times I think.

You can add as many cards as you like, I think, no need to remove one to add another. But you can't fund a payment from multiple sources, so having multiple cards won't help. What you can do is lodge €400 (or more) to you card, then you'll have €1000 available to spend.

You don't add funds to Paypal (from a credit card anyway). When you make a payment, the charge is made directly to the card.

but she needs to pay for it, so having 2 cards on my account will it ask me which one i want to charge?

    thanks.

When making a payment, it picks the primary card by default, but there is a link to choose other payment sources so you can pick the other card.

If you're near Kildare town, go into the outlets shopping center and get their mastercard gift card. You can load up to €1500 and re-load whenever you like. The card is valid for a year and is acceptable wherever mastercard is accepted - also handy for bringing on holidays, as less risky than losing regular CC or as back up.

cheer for the info guys, this is very useful reading to people who have never used paypal before and its concept is pretty vague on the website eg-i read that you can fund your paypal with your bank a/c and in other places it says you cant.

quote dman What ways can I add funds to Paypal except of a 3V card?----can you add funds by 3v or will it act as a credit card? this is important as the expiry of a 3v can be quite short. looks like ill be using my mothers card if i can!

I know for fact you can use your mothers credit card. On the 3V website it says the max number of 3V vouchers you can use with Paypal over a lifetime is 16. When you have used 16 you will have to open a new Paypal a/c.https://www.3v.ie/help.html?format=text#shopping_ebay_paypal

Note you can get around your credit limit on a credit card by lodging money into it so that it is in credit, e.g. if you want to buy something for €1,000 but your limit is €600 you just need to make sure the card is in credit by at least €400.
