'Hi Sexy' text messages - Scam?

    Hi,

I wanted to see if anyone else has received similar text messages that I have. I think it might be a scam of some sort.

About 5 months ago, I received a text message that was obviously not meant for me. It said something along the lines of "Hi Sexy, am stuck in traffic, can't wait to see you. Be home in about an hour". It obviously wasn't for me and I replied saying as much. She wrote back saying she'd bet he had just called a female sexy and that she'd never done that before. And then started flirting with me. I played along until it got quite sordid and then backed away very rapidly. I never heard any more or thought any more of it until last Monday.

I got almost exactly the same text again, but from a different number giving a different name. I put it down to co-incidence and replied to say it was sent to the wrong number - and then I got the same message back of never having called a female sexy before, and the same flirtatious undertones.

This time I was a bit wiser and said as much, but she played dumb. I was wondering if anyone else had the same experience. I think it was too much to be a co-incidence.

I wasn't charged anything additional for the texts and didn't start getting any subscriptions or anything. On both occasions they seemed to be normal 086 numbers.

I'd be interested to know if anyone else has received text messages like this - and why? Is it a scam of some sort?

    Thanks
    Jen

try googling or boardstracking the full phone mobile number. Its either leading up to a financial scam or maybe you have a stalker-type dealio. Its obviously a manipulation either way. You could always wind them up too now that you have their mobile number.

Yes - I have done. The first number was connected to a car for sale in Galway area (I live in Dublin). But I didn't get any names. She said she as an interior developer in Sligo!
This new one has no google record - but she said it was a legal secretary - in Sligo. I've never been to sligo in my life.

It's occured to me that it could be someone who knows me. The mobile in question is my work mobile, and the number is at the bottom of any emails I send out.

    Weird. Who'd be bothered!

you can get the numbers concerned BARRED from your account so they will not be able to ring or text you but this can take a few weeks and you will need to report it to the guards before your network can proceed! this should allow you keep your work number and avoid this pervert!

The people who do these things don't think quite like normal people- just like trolls on boards :)

Believe the voice of experience when I say the best thing to do is ignore them.
