Hybrid or just DVB-T

I'm looking to buy a Win-TV USB TV-stick and was wondering, living in the center of Co. Carlow, should I go for the Analog/Digital Hybrid stick for ~€70, or just a DVB-T for ~€40

Or even just a plain analog pci card?

I have a friend from Wexford who has a Win-TV stick and he can get some digital channels. What would be "gettable" from inside Carlow?

Get a hybrid as you can always capture stuff off RF with it, like from your VCR.

I got a Huppage Win-Tv DVB-T usb stick and it seems to work when Im in Dublin, haven't tested it properly yet though, got it mainly as I'm moving to Wales later in the year..

I would guess go for the Hybrid as you can probably get more use out of it..Would have got one myself had I known it was available..

As for Carlow, you probably could get all the DTT Trial channels that are unencripted (sp?) since Mt. Leinster seems to be broadcasting them at the moment.

Do any of these DVB-T USBs work with MPEG4? I would want to make sure it could work on the "HD test" and "SD test" channel.

A usb stick has no affiliation to the mpeg decoding.
Its the job of a fast pc and the installed mpeg4 H264 codec to decode mpeg4.

So that is why they are so cheap.
In the satellite world there are some models that do the mpeg decoding onboard.
