    Hi Folks,

I'll make this short as possible. One day laptop gets a blue windows error screen. used master recovery disk to recover. Laptop froze during recovery. left for 2 hrs decided to power it down.

Now it only goes to choose boot option. When i boot from disk it errors on OEM setup for "error 7: No Hardrive with n\wait2\.ico" when I ok that error it comes up with "error 7: No Hardrive & computer config incorrect"

Laptop: Packard Bell - Easynote (R1910)
    model: MIT-RHEA-C

    any help appreciated!!

Sounds like the HDD is faulty

    Is it in warranty?

You could reformat with FreeDos Util, easy to download anywhere, or boot to Bios and do a HDD mem check. Or perhaps you have to change the boot order to allow you to boot from disk if you wish to do a system re-install.

the laptop doesn't have a HDD mem check in the bios options its very basic.
Or perhaps you have to change the boot order to allow you to boot from disk if you wish to do a system re-install.

Is that not the same as selecting cd-rom when it asks me which device to boot from??

Cheers for the quick replies folks...keep the options coming please.

Memory check should be in the bios window under "advanced". It tends to run 4 tests I think. I havent done it in a while but it defo should be there. If you have an alternate HD with a working config you could try that?
And yeah, if you can boot from CD you are fine.
You need to find that HD check util however, to know if your HD is ballsed or not.

theres an option called shared memory, I'll chk that one see what it does

just to check confussion. The laptop is not booting from this master disk due to this OEM setup error so i can't boot from the disk.

    Cheers for more options,

Perhaps I have led you astray somehow. I was certain that it was a standard bios option, but as I said, it's been a while and there are a number of BIOS variants.
I did a bit of digging.... try this maybe? relating to error 7 you were getting above.
It seems most people with a similar problem ran the recovery disk to resolve it.
Can you autodetect the HDD in BIOS / CMOS?
Is it XP u are using?

Are you sure your hard drive is OK?
