Last Minute Flights to Bangkok?

Hi all, I know that there has been a few threads about Bangkok, Thailand etc recently, but what I was wondering was does anyone have any experience with booking a flight to Thailand at the last minute, i.e., 2-3 weeks before departing.

I was planning on going for the month of August with my bf, but have an exam to repeat in the start of September, so now we're thinking of going either the begining of July for 4/5 weeks or else mid-end June.

I don't want to book flights yet, as i won't know if I'll have another repeat in September, if I do, I'll want more time to study, and I don't get exam results until mid June.

So what I was wondering, does anyone have any experinces of booking flights to S.E.A. at the last minute, especially in the summer, and did it work out cheaper, the same or more expensive?
    Thanks:)!

Did Thailand 3 years ago as a last minute decision (about 2 weeks) to join a group of friends. Booked with Trailfinders and flew Dublin – Heathrow – Singapore – Bangkok. Reckon I spent about 200 over the odds and had to take an extra stop in. No regrets !
