The Archbishop of Canterbury, Rowan Williams, is calling for the British constitution to be abolished and replaced by Sharia Law. Since we seem to follow the Brits in everything, how long will Sharia Law come to these shores?

No, he didn't say that, what he said was:
"There's a place for finding what would be a constructive accommodation with some aspects of Muslim law, as we already do with some other aspects of religious law."

    Quote from the BBC:
Sharia law in UK is 'unavoidable'

Also, the fact that he doesn't run the country would make such a task for him difficult.

Of course what he is saying is ridiculous and all it will generate is hysteria like your post.

Sharia Law has been in effect in Britain a long time anyway. The law goes wherever muslims go. Probably already in practise here too.

Seeing the posts in AH about what to do with "scum", "knackers" and other "elements" I'd say Sharia Law (Saudi version 2.0) will be welcomed here :p

The Archbishop of Canterbury, Rowan Williams, is calling for the British constitution to be abolished and replaced by Sharia Law.

I would say your summarisation skills leave a lot to be desired. PS - there is no such thing as a British constitution.
Archbishop of Canterbury Rowan Williams, spiritual leader of the world's Anglicans, said on Thursday the introduction of some aspects of Islamic Sharia law in Britain was unavoidable.

Other religions enjoyed tolerance of their laws in Britain, he said, and he called for a "constructive accommodation" with Muslim practice in areas such as marital disputes.

Asked in a BBC interview if the adoption of Sharia law was necessary for community cohesion, Williams said: "It seems unavoidable.

"Certain conditions of Sharia are already recognised in our society and under our law, so it is not as if we are bringing in an alien and rival system."

It is implemented in varying degrees in Muslim countries. Williams said he was not endorsing the harsh punishments issued in countries such as Saudi Arabia, where murderers and drug traffickers are beheaded.

"Nobody in their right mind would want to see in this country the kind of inhumanity that has sometimes been associated with the practice of the law in some Islamic states, the extreme punishments, the attitudes to women."

I'm not making a point about the rights and wrongs of what he's saying. I'm saying that what he said is nothing at all like what you said he said.

edit: wes got there first. sorry wes, didn't see yours.

Commonly misunderstood expression. It isn't a case of you should do what the Romans do because they are right it is do what they do or they will kill you. It therefore is an out of date expression in a modern secular society where logic should prevail regardless of religion.

That's probably true! (I don't know for sure) what I do know is that in certain Muslim countries they certainly follow that aspect of the expression!

The BBC have a very lively debate on this subject.

Yes, but leaping to conclusions is far more fun than actually reading what's being said.
