PSP Kit reviews

I've bought a few addons for the PSP. Got the first two of these from decalgirl.com (A site in the US). Found them decent.

If you got extra stuff for your PSP and found it to be good or bad, I'd love to hear.

Here are some brief reviews of stuff I've gotten:

    Hori psp screen protector
    Pros:
Easy to apply without getting bubbles
    Reduces screen glare substantially

    Cons:
Slightly smaller than the psp screen.

    PSP Faceplate
    Pros:
Looks absolutely class (I got the clear one).
    Comes with required screwdriver.

    Cons:
    Voids warranty.

    3600 mAH battery:
    Pros:
Cheap (mine cost around 6 euro including delivery).

    Cons:
lol@3600 mAH. More like 1000mAH (no joke). These are to be generally avoided.

    usb + psp charger cable
    Pros:
    Cheap charger.
    Highly portable.
No travel adapter required if you have access to USB while away.

    Cons:
Some of the cheaper ones lack the power part in the mini-usb end, so can only be used for the PSP.
Slow to charge PSP compared to the real charger.

    Good ole' eBay.
I have never come across a genuine Sony PSP battery or Memory Stick on eBay. Everyone of them are fakes.
The batteries look very real but all have the same serial no. and just die at half-charge for no reason.
The Memory Sticks are all fake, not MagicGate and are sometimes hacked to read larger in size than they are.

No matter how cheap they look, just don't do it!!

    2gb memory stick pro duo

    Pros:
    Is 2gb
    less than €14 delivered
    I'm happy with the speed

    Cons:
    Fake, not magic gate supported

Replacement Analog Switch Button Module for PSP Slim/2000

    Pros:
Works, fixed the broken slim i bought
    Cheap

    Cons:
    none that i'm aware of

Other: I have never had much experience with psps, so i've no idea how it compares to original. seems fine though

I also got a battery and a video dock of dealextreme, when i use them properly i'll report what there like

Very interested to hear back how the battery lasts. Thanks for the reviews so far.

edit: Could you tell me what the shipping time from dealextreme is like too?

    The battery is not great:
It seems to last alright, you'll get a few hours out of it anyways, i cant compare it to original as i made it a hardware pandora before i really used the psp. The psp can't read the level right, it turned off on me today when the battery was showing 3 bars! It was this one. According to comments on DX it lasts around the same as the original.

Oooh, those mega ones are pure lies. Pure lies. They have a sony knock off one on there which I think I'll give a lash.

    What's the shipping time like?

Sorry mate , forgot to say what shipping was like!

Normally you will get it in 2 weeks if its in stock. Only thing is there still on holidays for there new year, and i'd imagine they'll be swamped when the get back (20th i think) so if you order now i'd say it will be at least the second week in march before you get it

Read reviews on each thing, i dont think you'll find too many amazing batterys there, but at least there awful cheap!

I'm getting the GPS reciever off renchi.com , I'll let you know how it is!

Balls. I'm heading off to Thailand on the 9th of March. Was hoping to get some stuff by then. I suppose I can order it and if it comes, it comes.

    Got my PSP today!!

    PSP Console 3.52 m33 + 2GB + More

    Pros:
    Relativley Cheap (€100)
    Easy to install/upgrade cfw ( on 3.90 M33 w/ 1.5kernel v2)
    VGC
The 2GB card/Headphones/Caseare genuine Sony, retail packaged.

    Cons:
1 dead pixel far bottom left (not noticeable)
Needs plug adapter (Using usb charger atm)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 37,485 ✭✭✭✭Khannie

Jesus, that's cheap. Is it brand new? Does the 2G card have magicgate? I'm assuming it's been taken out of its packaging if it has a custom firmware on it.

Any advantage to 3.90 over 3.52 with the psp 1000?

Eh, i feel like a dope but that didn't actually happen! Was playing loco roco and i flicked the power switch by mistake( i know this cause i did it again last night!)

That is a great price for a psp! Did you get charged customs?

No its not new, but may well have been. Packaged and boxed like new, even had one of those screen protector stuck to it. As I said cosmetically excellent apart from the 1 dead pixel.

    Yep the card has MG.

Doubt theres much of an improvement over 3.52 but just decided I'd upgrade anyway just to see what this flashing involved. In fact your probably better going for 3.80 as there's currently no POPsloader for 3.90. I have enough games (and not enough space) as it is though so I'll be ok till its released.

    HAHAHA. :D

I suppose that's bound to happen at some point when you use only the R and L switches in that game. Sure let us know how long a full charge lasts for ye.

I was wrong about DX there back to work already, if you order off them as long as the item is in stock theres a 95% chance you'll get it before your trip. Its the best site ever!

Just saw this now. Beauty. Thanks.
