    Hi all,

I'm at a crossroads. I've a Hon Degree in Applied Physics and am working as a research assistant these days and thinking about getting out of the rat race for a year and doing a masters. I think I have it narrowed down to these two. I presume I can do both but not sure which to do as they will take me in completely different directions. My girlfriend and I had a little girl 3 weeks ago yesterday so the salary straight after the MSc could help a lot in me deciding.

Anyone got any comments that might help me make up my mind.
    Thanks.

I don't know much about MSc in Sustainable Energy at all, but I can tell you if you're going to make a career with Interactive Media, you'll need some artistic or musical ability to do really well and produce high quality work. You also have to be very inventive, because most of the time your standard software packages won't be able to provide you with functions that you'd like for your project, so you'll have to script your own functions.

If you want to be an academic in that area, you don't really need much artistic flair, because you'll just have to be very interested in your subject and know it inside out so you could explain it to first year students :D.

PM me for more info if you wish.

I completed MSc Multimedia Technology which was the predecessor of the Interactive Media MSc (many subjects the same, same lecturing staff etc) and while the course is challenging and enjoyable and the timetable would allow someone to hold down a part-time job if money was tight, employers are not going to be queueing up to employ you because of this qualification. I however you are creative and have a flair for this work it can't hurt. I know nothing about sustainable energy tho'
